College son is balding. Feel so bad for him. Are there safe options?

Propecia will give your son breasts because the way it screws up testosterone. Too many other risks. ED is real side effect especially for young men.

I know all about it. Most times as PP said it’s mom’s side. Read up on minoxidil before you start. In many cases, Transplants don’t work -depends how intense a loss it is. Good plugs can be had for less than $5k initially, then $2-3k for Maintenance but from a career perspective too it may help. YMMV.

My DH started losing his hair in his late 20s, shaved it all off in his early 30s and hasn't looked back. I had to do an intervention with him when he was in grad school - I mentioned he should shave it all off because comb-overs were not sexy, at any age, ever. Not every guy can pull off the bald guy look, they need a certain bone structure and cheek bones. But when they do, and they do it with confidence, they are super sexy.

Oral propecia and topical minoxidil woks for many. Just keep the propecia away from women as it can harm developing fetuses.

Go to hims.com and get a prescription for the finasteride and minoxidil spray. You get the benefits of finasteride without the side effects. If it works for him (it does for me), it'll slow down loss, thicken existing hair, and spur some growth. The first thing he'll likely notice is that it'll eliminate the annoying scalp itch he's probably experiencing.

Any updates from OP and other poster who was going to try Rogaine about anything that helped? Concerned about oral meds side effects.

He has an appointment scheduled with our family doctor the next time he's home. Obviously there are costly hair transplants but spending whatever that costs isn't something we're really wild about. I assume good ones are upwards of $50,000? Then again, I'm assuming you want to do that sooner than later, right?

Make sure his teeth are kept nice and white and skin is kept looking clean and no acne etc... If he can keep a little sun tan that helps as well. You can still be handsome with balding.

Yikes, that's tough. Good luck to him.

Oral finasteride. The sooner, the better.

No one should be balding in this day and age - there are plenty of choices to prevent it.

Consider hair transplant in Istanbul Turkey.
It’s very successful industry and at fraction of the cost.

A lot of younger guys are wearing toupees. They are now made in quite high quality and similar to wigs and look great. There are a few social media channels that are just young guys getting toupees or hair pieces or whatever they call them.

doubt that
