In her mecourse healing vid she frames it as her suffering and healing journey she went through…she talks about it like it’s in the past tense. Honey you are not through it. You’ve barely begun and that’s actually normal and healthy since it’s only been like 2 and a half years. She’s ironically preventing her true healing by performing and forcing and avoiding. IMO she is genuinely delusional and I find her social media behavior erratic and not aligned with reality. She is quite literally creating a whole alternate reality for herself and everyone and her followers and bystanders are is being asked to go along.

Not sure if everyone else is experiencing this, but I’m seeing a big shift in the women I’m friends with and know in real life. A shift away from consumerism and towards minimalism. Less “avoid aging at all costs!”, and more embracing the gray (and removing the implants). Less complaining about kids and life, and more enjoying moments with family. More time outside too. It’s refreshing. (And very NOT Jen’s MO.)

Absolutely 100%. Maybe its natural aging and maturity maybe it's the worsening economy and inflation pressures but we are a lot leaner and meaner than we were pre covid.
Smaller less expensive vacas, way less haircuts and indulgences like massages (Ugh!), repurposed clothes, coupon shopping, eating out 75% less, the works. If you saw a picture of me and my family from 2019 vs 2023 you'd think we were two different families. We look different, less flashy and shiny, but we're way happier. Didn't Jen, though, once write a book on this, ha ha.

What is wrong with massages? They can be wonderful for aches, pains and traumas.

Yeah, I think the PP belongs to a very specific group who embraced "self-care" in the last decade or so but a very consumerist version of it. Like the Goop (or Jen Hatmaker) version of self-care where it's mostly about looking good and then projecting a semi-spiritual image on social media.

Real self-care is not about projecting an image and getting a massage can of course be part of that. I can't afford them regularly but I get them when I can and also have a massager at home that I can use on my feet and legs and shoulders that can help relax me. Self-care has never been about anti-aging treatments, getting my hair done, or buying new clothes for me. That's something else.

This. In the last 20 years, I have found that a weekend or week away at lodge or hotel on a beachfront, or Air BNB in a quirky little town, walking nature trails, eating in odd little restaurants, browsing antique shops, sipping wine at a wine bar or overlooking the ocean, completely restores me. Very gratefully DH, though he doesn’t always get it, accepts that I sometimes need it.

I don’t broadcast it to friends and family, don’t posts on social media where I am or what I’m doing and every place I’m going. I’m not trying to impress anyone, or tell everyone how wonderful it is. I could care less if anyone knows. It’s truly Self Care. For Me. Not linking hotels or restaurants or shops to get discount points or comps or kickbacks if others book or buys.

For Jen, it’s always how to impress or cause envy. And make money.

Do yall remember a few weeks ago when Brandon posted a tutorial of Tina showing how she does her big messy buns. I swear to God I think Jen must have watched and followed that tutorial, because in her video yesterday touting the therapy course, she's got a bun like Tina's..

The Tina bun video seemed like Brandon was trolling Jen. I mean, that’s been her “thing” for a while—it’s even her podcast logo. I did think, man—Brandon sure has a type—when watching that video. Tina and Jen look super similar with their bleach blond buns and false eyelashes. To be fair, this looks is ubiquitous in the Texas Hill Country. But still…it’s pretty weird.

To the pp’s point though, now that you mention it I went back and looked and Jen’s recent bun looks less like a usual past Jen-bun and more like a Tina-tutorial-bun. Good eye. It’s a technique difference.

Jen has her hair down so often though I don’t think of a messy bun as her look so much as a big smile, big earrings, and when applicable big sunglasses.

Definitely a troll move. I think Jen had even done a similar tutorial video once upon a time. No way that wasn’t on Brandon’s radar, even if Barbie was unaware.

Did someone say Tyler and Jen were getting together in Austin this week? I think I either saw that here or on Insta, but surprised there have been no loud posts about it if so.

That was definitely a troll move by Brandon. Jen did an IG tutorial on how to do her bun sometime last year. The only thing I got out of watching Brandon force Tina to do this was:

Tina came across as completely unfriendly and unrelatable
Aside from bring a troll move, it seemed that Brandon wanted her to be an influencer like Jen and this was the first foray into that

The whole thing was weird. I hardly believe a single person was asking Tina (or Jen for that matter) how to their hair this way.

I wondered the same! I'm guessing comments are getting deleted...

Agree with this. Somewhere along the lines there has been a cultural shift to not really do any true reflection on ourselves. That coupled with people just wanting to get grief and healing over and done with, which is probably human nature. I think Jen is under the impression that time and distance alone are going to heal her without her doing any heavy lifting. Her being in a romantic relationship is definitely delaying this process for her. It's sad that she doesn't have any friends who can be honest with her and confront her with a difficult conversation about what she's doing to herself and to those around her. She's setting herself up to have a the same type of life implosion that Brandon had and everyone in her orbit is going to be hit with the fallout, just like with Brandon.

Is Jen still a semi celebrity or is she now just back to reality like the rest of us?
