| Is skippyjon Jones is racist? |
| What makes you say that? Admittedly, I think I've only read one or two of the books with my kids. |
| Totally. Mexican stereotypes up the wazoo. Reminds me of Lil Abner cartoons. (The first book, that is.). Also the fake-o pidgin Spanish is like mocking an Asian by saying Ching Chong. |
| Eh yeah which is sad because there is potential in the books. |
| I mistakenly thought they were well regarded and bought one for DS. So awful. |
Oh yea.. I see it now. |
| He's an asshole for sure. |
| Yes. |
| Someone gave us one for our daughter and I was pretty horrified. I was hoping it was just the one-I guess it's not from this thread. Luckily she never developed a liking for it! |

THANK YOU!!!!!
I was appalled and I am not easily offended |
| I vote no. It is a cat pretending to be a dog, and I like doing the voices. It is a great read aloud. |
| Why are they so popular? And isn't the author Latino? |
| It helps to give a little context for your question for people who have no idea what the hell you are talking about. |
Me too. I hid the book until dd forgot about it and then threw it away. It was too bad even to donate. |

I am not in the politically correct camp, yet found these books to be completely tasteless and vulgar. We were offered one when DS turned 5. Pure unadulterated junk. |
