Op here. That's what I thought until I googled the author. I had assumed she was a Spanish speaking author . It does appear that is the case

I don't see this any differently than Puss in Boots speaking with a spanish accent, and yes, I know that it's Antonio Banderas, but if the character is supposed to be spanish, then shouldn't they speak Spanglish?
