You look out the window and you see them get on the bus. Too late to catch them. What do you do?
|
Take the lunch to the school and drop it off in the front office. They're good about getting it to the kid before lunchtime. I have also told my kids that if they ever find themselves without a lunch, tell one of the lunch monitors and they will be given a school lunch. By law, the school has to give a lunch to anyone who doesn't have one. |
|
Couldn't you follow the bus and meet it at the next stop?
First time, I'd do that -- or drop it off at school. After that, kids outta luck. Natural consequences. |

Drop it off at school. If you can, drop it off right before lunch, to allow your kid plenty of time to sweat over it. At least, that's what I did to my fourth grader the umpteenth time he forgot his lunch. |
| ... he never forgot his lunch after that time. |
+1 as much as I hate wasting food, the kid will have to eat the cheese sandwich at school. |
| I put $20 in my son's school account just for situations like this one. I would put it in the fridge for tomorrow's lunch, and he would have to eat school lunch. |
This. Although I admit as the school is only .4 miles from home id feel wasteful so I'd probably bring it. It only happened maybe three times last year and it was with my pre-k kid and was usually my fault for rushing so I brought it..... |
| Let him get school lunch. No biggie. |
| Eat it!!! |
| I forget my lunch, go hungry, and still forget it again. |
| They have money on their lunch account. I'd stick the packed lunch in the fridge and they could buy that day. |
| I ask my kid to pick up the slack when I make mistakes, like forgetting things, all the time. And he does it without complaint. So, I do the same for him. If I had a way to get the lunch to him, or put money in his account, then I would. While "don't forget your lunch" is a nice thing for kids to learn, "families take care of each other" is more important to me. |
Love this. Great mom. |
| Going hungry for one meal will not hurt your children, and may teach them not to forget their lunch again. |
