Another post made me think of this -
Do parents, besides me, still let their kids lick the beater/spoon after mixing cake batter or brownies? I buy open pasture eggs from a local family however they are not certified organic. I guess I'm wondering if I'm really weird and putting my kids at more than normal risk. |
| Just 1, the other is all mine! |
| Of course I do. Heck we practically compete for the "right" to lick the beaters and bowl! |
Same here! |

Me: Ewww! No! You are going to get food poisoning!
My husband: Shhh! Don't tell mom! |
DH got his mom the best mother's day card this year. It said "Good moms let their kids lick the beaters. Great moms turn them off first."
|
| I have occasionally told him they would make him sick...because I didn't want to share |
Yep, absolutely. Especially chocolate chip cookie dough.
|
| Of course, that's the point of beaters! |
| OP. I'm very surprised by these comments and happy that people seem to be forgetting about the hysteria of raw eggs. |
| Frosting only. Batter-never! |
| Yes! And I am down with raw eggs, too (they get eaten a lot in my culture). I've probably eaten 1000 raw eggs and have never gotten sick. |
| Each kid gets one beater and I get the spoon. |
