Spin off: Who still lets their kids lick the beater?

Yes, but only because I bake without eggs.

You can buy pasteurized eggs.

doesn't matter. salmonella has been found even inside raw yolk - as in, INSIDE the egg

Wow, I guess I'm in the minority. I will lick them but don't let my kids who are 3 and 5. I imagine I will when they are older but they are still so young.

LOL. You should look up the definition of pasteurized.

The one and only reason why I bake at home is so that we can like the beater (and spoons).

I did wait until my kids were about two though before I let them eat anything with raw egg.

Of course! It's one of the joys of being a mom/kid! But only when it's off

Of course my kids like the beaters. It's one of the great joys of childhood. It's up there with sneaking off to the store with your friends and reading books with a flashlight under the covers.

And then what happens is the kid does this with the icing, or some other time, where it's really inappropriate. Our girl scout troop made cupcakes. It completely grossed me out - several girls licking the spoons, their fingers. The Mom's were like, "oh, now don't do that!" No one seemed as concerned as they should.
