Spin off: Who still lets their kids lick the beater?

We both do!

With the small about of batter on beaters, I don't worry about illness. Me, on the other hand...my spoon goes directly into the batter! I survived eating raw hamburger meat when I was a kid (rolled in salt, no less); not much fear over a little raw egg.

Never. Salmonella is in most eggs - even pasture raised organic ones! In an ER doctor and have seen a ton of salmonella diarrhea and just enough cases of salmonella blood infections and complications to freak me out about letting my kids do this....

Yes.

Actually I very rarely use a beater to make things (I do more cookie baking than cakes) but I let my kids lick the spoon/scrape the bowl when I make cookies.

Haha - I love that my comment spawned a spin off post!

And of course I do. It's a simple pleasure in life.

To the greeting card poster - right on

I do it all the time myself. Sometimes I share with the kids.

I use pasteurized eggs if I think the kids might want to lick them.

No, by only because I never got into it as a kid either so it wouldn't occur to me.
