Well, she did raise $800k for TWB.....

No, girl. She headlined a party planned by paid professionals where attendance required donations.

Eh, I have no idea about her specific case or how much TWB usually raises, but the person who heads up a fundraiser like this can make an enormous difference. Hell, the right auction chairs at a school can raise 2x as much as an average one easily; this is the same thing on a much higher scale.

I don’t know about TWB, but 800k isn’t much for a large organization’s main fundraiser. I know covid has put a damper on a lot of fundraising and giving but several orgs I’m involved with have had fundraisers recently too and raised multiple millions, and I think their operating budget is double those orgs.

Well, those fundraisers were likely for more essential nonprofits. Not sure what foundations or corporations can justify donating to the arts during this pandemic and recession. I'd be horrified if my SIL hit up my parents for a donation every time her ego needed adulation from her "friends ". I wonder if they will continue to support her charity worK.

Nope, these are arts organizations too. Honestly, it’s the arts that has been getting a lot of people through this time - think about all the performances that have been streamed, etc, during this time. To say the arts aren’t essential is ridiculous.

I think the IL's support the daughters' vanity projects as well.

Society and money are very different things.

ok well “society” in DC is not riding horses. It’s decisionmakers. A Supreme Court clerk from Iowa is society in DC.

That’s definitely not true either... An actual justice, an ambassador, an undersecretary of one of the real agencies? Then I agree with you...

DC Society is the Green Book. It's not about accomplishment as much as it's about pedigree.

I'm amazed that this still exists. I used to know a lot of people in it (including family members, but never my immediate family) and would actually scan it looking for people I knew. But I think I last saw a copy in the 70's, I assumed it was a thing of the past.

Nah. A bunch came from her in laws. She did not do much in her own besides give a party to celebrate herself.

It’s a business, just like Who’s Who books. It’s dumb.

....but then raise 800K for the...**ballet** and then proceed to expose a brown and black catering staff to cater your covid-19 coming out party? People like this need a lesson in how their avid promotion of conspicuous consumption promotes structural racism. They should stay the hell out of black lives matter until they take down their lifestyle blogs that glorify and promote the white wealth gap, or if they want to be involved, take a seat in the back of the room and listen instead of talk.

Regarding the instagram post - none of her other posts have had so many likes. I'm betting the PR firm is behind the likes.

She didn’t organize the parade, I don’t think. Wasn’t it another real housewife of palibu who put that one together? Cringeworthy.

To the pp who mentioned AB having raised $800k for the ballet...regardless of where the $ came from or how exceptional a hostess she may be, there’s an actual pandemic currently killing people on a global scale. It’s the same one that may prevent all of our children from returning to school and some sense of normalcy in the fall...remember? The one that means my 3 year old has to wear a mask in public and my older child can’t hug her grandparents.

TWB had dancers sheltering in place and practicing sans contact in the months leading to the gala. They took every precaution to ensure that their VIRTUAL fundraiser was a safe success. The choice that woman made to undermine the organization and the extra work they did to demonstrate their commitment to safety and responsibility was selfish, inexcusable and foolish. And not worth $800k, which btw I know for a fact one board member could donate in a single shot. Not to mention the people she endangered, including all ages, colors and socio economic positions.

Agree that her pr people must’ve drummed up the positive reactions to the bs apology she had the audacity to put online.

While I would love to go and eat on the patio safely, I don't trust the Spring Valley crowd that goes there. This is what happens when you grow up with inherited wealth that you didn't earn and with parents and grandparents who failed to teach you humility and grace. You think you are entitled to break the law and violate the rules of quarantine just because you're you. Her behavior showed what a selfish, entitled, brat she is and all of her two dozen friends who attended her party and those who attended her boot camp and summer camps are also selfish, entitled brats.

Oh, you shouldn't let people like that stop you from enjoying Millie's, my dear! Never worry that it will be a repeat of high school mean girls who lived easy, blissful lives. Once you're an adult, everyone's lives are so much more complicated, and just because they look like a fairytale on the outside, there are always cracks underneath the surface that we just can't see. Just look at Candace Ourisman. Her life and house and trips were picture perfect on Instagram, but in reality things were falling apart. It's easy to compare when we're young, but now we're all fighting our own hidden battles. Enjoy the patio, frose, and people watching!

This. The real race is to get to the point where you have this mindset.

Mr Fauci makes $350K. That’s far above top fed salary

He’s not on the GS pay scale.

NP. The wiki says he's been with NIH since 1968. Under the old retirement system for people who started pre-1984, he would have maxed his retirement in 40 years to receive 80%. Unless there's something different about his compensation, he hasn't been making much more by working than he would have staying home for 12-15 years (probably has received some bonus awards in that time, but easily could have received more total comp retiring and double dipping years ago)
