Yadda yadda. He lost me when it was established that he was receiving financial support from his daughter while she was on suits. As a parent I would tighten my belt or get a job before I did that.

It's very normal to give money to your parents when they are old and ailing or otherwise in bad luck. Especially when the parent in question did everything they could to help you succeed earlier. And especially if the child has stumbled upon some success. I've been sending money to my parents for years.

It's not normal to not speak to your father for years.

It's also not normal to not introduce your father to the person you are planning to marry.

Did she lose you when she lied that she paid for her own schooling?

Meghan’s entire (White) side of the family are poor by their own choices.

Thomas lives in Rosarito, Mexico because that’s where Americans who can’t afford the US go to live as they age.

The diplomat uncle lives in a trailer park. How many former diplomats do you know live in trailer homes? He didn’t pay housing for decades, so where did all his income go? Drugs, gambling or addiction.

The stepsister also lives in a trailer home.

I’m not saying they deserve to live in squalor but as the only extremely successful member of the youngest generation Meghan is not required to support all of them financially.

Very few people have to help their parents financially before they even hit 40. When Meghan was on suits Thomas was early 70s so assuming he retired at 65 he apparently didn’t even have 5 years retirement funds saved up Or he retired early and expected her to support him. That is not something a normal person does. And I don’t understand how he’s too old and ailing to provide for himself but healthy enough to regularly do televised interviews about his daughter and stage paparazzi photos.

I agree she shouldn’t have lied about paying for her schooling as it’s not even feasible given northwestern’s tuition. Very weird.

First of all, we don't know the extent of her helping him financially as this was never made public. You don't know if it meant she was supporting him and paying all his bills. For all you know, it may have been a new car or a single vacation or just a check every now and again.

Second, there's nothing wrong with one member of the family who finally made it big being generous to family members who were instrumental in her rise. By all accounts, he taught her to act in front of the camera and work the most flattering angles of her face. That work is evident in her photos.

As to how rare it is to help your parents financially...you are broadcasting from a white UMC bubble, I'm sorry to say.

If you aren't going to help support your family then you can't be surprised that they sell stories about you to tabloids. It sucks if you have a shitty family, but a more pragmatic way to deal with this and to avoid further humiliation and embarrassment, would be to either pay them off or repair the relationships. Meghan isn't taking the high road at all and it has done nothing but cause her further problems. She shouldn't have to do these things, but, sometimes you do what you have to do.

No one said anything about supporting them all financially. You don't know the extent to which she supported her father - that part has never been made public.

As to her diplomat uncle, I don't know why he lives in a trailer park. I do know she wouldn't have got her internship without his help. That's a fact. I do know he has Parkinson's and a pacemaker. I don't know why health problems at an old age in this country bankrupt people. I do know that's a shame.

Her uncles have never done anything to embarrass her. It's just that Meghan clearly prefers to pretend she sprang from the earth just as she is, with all her talents honed entirely by herself with no help from anyone. And she doesn't want any family members interfering with this story.

It's hard not to see a pattern of narcissism in her. As been pointed out before in this thread, she's cut off or distanced herself from literally every possible connection to her childhood and college and young adult years, except for her mother. As if once someone was no longer useful to her, she just shut them out. I've seen that pattern in other people who are hardly famous.

Anonymous wrote:I’ve always said I feel sorry for the dad- was never introduced to Harry. Made a mistake and posed for pics and that was enough for Meghan to cut out the dad she loved and gushed about right up until then.

Then he had heart surgery right before the wedding... and still no contact from Meghan. He goes on tv pleading for his daughter to contact him... still nothing. It’s sad.

But I guess this airing of dirty laundry is a marker thing because MM did it too with this book and all her “leaks” and sad droopy videos about no one asking if she is “ok”.

Meghan did the right thing. He sold her out for a few hundred dollar bills.

That would hurt.

But as a mother I would be ready to commit murder if he did the same to my child. She's protecting her son (who he has never met) and her husband (who he has also never met).

Thomas can take his fat butt on GMB and talk about the other daughter. Of course, he wouldn't get paid for those secrets, now would he?

Doria, who stood by her daughter and never sold or said a word, is present for every moment of her grandson's life and that's a blessing that I'm sure Meghan appreciates.

No one says he's perfect. And the tabloids certainly did all they could to paint him in an unflattering light.

The idea that Archie and Harry, with all the resources at their disposal, need protection from Thomas Markle is laughable on its face.

Why hasn't he met Harry? That is - why didn't his daughter introduce him to a man she was about to marry?

There is an explanation, but it's not a flattering one.

Meghan wants to be in control of her narrative. What she presents to the world is a story of a strong woman who came from humble beginnings despite all odds and fighting great obstacles with no one to help her. Bringing into this a father (who paid for expensive private schooling and then her university - which she lied and said she paid for herself) who worked with her for years on her acting craft and taught her the ins and outs of moving in front of the camera - I mean don't you wonder why Meghan rarely takes bad pictures? - might endanger this narrative. As would giving credit to her diplomat uncle who arranged for her internship (I mean what was possibly wrong with him?). She simply wanted to reinvent herself according to her own message, and that meant shedding everyone from her old life who could possibly interfere with that narrative.

Yadda yadda. He lost me when it was established that he was receiving financial support from his daughter while she was on suits. As a parent I would tighten my belt or get a job before I did that.

Speak for yourself. Some of us have no problem with sharing our good fortune with less fortunate family members, especially the ones that raised us.

Doria is in great shape. But why on earth is she walking around barefoot on a driveway?? These two grandmothers are very different.

Diana was just a ... different kind of person.

Harry and Megs have purchased their own $14.5 million property, so they don’t have to squat in their wealthy acquaintances’ homes anymore.

I read about their new home - enormously lavish, neighbors to elite Hollywood players. Seems incongruous with their focus on disenfranchised communities, social justice, and equal rights and opportunities as their life’s work. Not that they should live in a hovel but there is a huge divide between the lives of the people and communities they are purportedly working to help, and their own. They are living in a palatial estate among the most wealthy. Talk about segregation.

I don’t begrudge them a nice house. It’s a beautiful property and SB is gorgeous. Even social justice warriors like to live in luxury

It’s probably for security.

Fixed that for you.

They've really gone from likeable to horrifically unlikeable in a short period of time.
