A socialist mayor of DC will be a boon for national GOP — and most other Americans will blame black people for it.

NYC has a socialist mayor and he seems to be doing fine even though he is not everyone’s cup of tea

Trump says he's revoking home rule if JLG is elected, so I guess we'll end up with Mayor Trump.

Mamdani is a generational talent. I loved Mamdani but I did not vote for JLG.

Lol it’s so sad that the bare minimum is a talent in the US government.

JLG is enthusiastic but some of her ideas are crazy

Goodweather is intent on pushing something that DCPS actually already does well (Science of Reading)

McDuffie didn't even bother to fill it out

Those are our options.

Like what? What is ‘crazy.’

Loosening credentialing requirements for teachers so they can hire more immigrants and Black men.

Im not white however I don't like hiring based on demographics.

She also wants there to be a pathway to hire "returning citizens" into early child care jobs.

I actually think the academic requirements for ECE aides are too high. Why should they need a college credits or the ability to pass an algebra test if they are good with small children (and paid absolute peanuts). I fully agree with her on this.

Wow. Ex-cons caring for our children.

 Don’t hurt your back doing all that reaching.

Trump said very similar things before the NYC mayoral election and then changed his tune and became best friends with Mamdani.

If you don’t want to vote for JLG, cool but no need to lie. I voted for her and I hope whoever is elected will do better for the kids AND teachers.

Well, as you may have noticed, the owner of this website has been systematically deleting comments critical of JLG while leaving all the comments critical of McDuffie alone, even when they are very, very off-topic (not to mention factually wrong).

I don’t believe this for one second as Jeff is very factual. If posts have misinformation, you should report them

Stop spreading untruths. You don’t have to vote for her but it is an ahole move to wilfully smear someone using incorrect information

Confused by your comment. He is a very popular mayor

I have a big problem with McDuffie being a public servant who wants to be Mayor for ALL but yet sent BOTH of his kids to the toniest private school in town. His wife works for CSOSA as a probation officer - so they are not swimming in dough. This reeks of striver to me, among other things. If he had picked some moderately priced parochial, a move like this might be forgivable but, nah. Not voting for him.

Wait…is GDS McDuffie getting financial aid?!?!??? He should be ashamed of himself!
Anonymous
He is on the board of GDS but no idea if he is getting financial aid or not.

Well it looks like it's JLG! I wish her the best (and hope she ends up adjusting most of her policies).

This generally is why I left him completely off my ballot yesterday too. But if anyone thinks he hasn’t been enriching himself and his family as he’s gone along in his public service career, well, that’s probably naive. His BS maneuvering of the GDS land sale (Google if you need to) for MacArthur was what sealed it for me though. The land was assessed around $20M and DC paid over DOUBLE for it. Instantly disqualified because I could never trust him to make a decision that was in the best interest of DCPS/charter students.

Oh c’mon, the man has kids to feed and tuition bills to pay.

Uh, well, how does JLG afford a $1.2 million home when mortgage rates are 6.5 percent and she works for the government? Depending on how much she put down, that mortgage could approach $10,000 per month.
