They can go to the front office to call you. The teacher can send you an email and let you know. And how often does this really happen? For the “sometimes” this happens we should allow all kids or have cell phones. Come on! Studies have proven over and over again the reducing cell phone use is good for kids. Why would anyone against this is beyond me. There are solutions to your problems. |
m This will never happen sorry. |
Can they not have books? A sketch book? No options at lunch besides looking at other kids or phones? |
get parents to organize so that half the school is thrown into detention. then let the admin deal with the fallout. policies would change quickly. |
+1 |
This is a state law. What part of that is hard to understand? Why try to create misery for the schools that are responsible for enforcing the law? Some of you would really benefit from subbing in a school for a few days. |

Another good reason for a bell-to-bell rule. |
So again this is a case of punishing the good kids who really just want to text quickly at lunch to let a parent know about staying after. I’m sorry there are so many kids who are addicted to their phones or who use it for cyber bullying. Mine doesn’t. |
Rules aren’t punishments. |
They can be when they are targeting certain kids. |
Isn’t it not just a rule, but a state law? |
Yes. |
No one is being targeted. It applies equally to all public school students across the state of Virginia. |
Guess you never heard of civil disobedience? |
Please, by all means tell your children to boycott school until they can have their phones. Teachers will be relieved not to have to deal with your family. |
