Conversely UC waitlists have barely moved for in state while moving early and a lot for out of state. It’s weird because with the exception of Cal and UCLA, in past years they move a lot. UCSD 30%, UCD 40%, UCI 60%, UCSB 80% in past years and this year it’s crickets. DS has a friend who is hoping to get off a waitlist to the school DS turned turn. DS was originally considering choosing UCSD if he got off the waitlist but now he’s set with a roommate, scoped out classes, bought the water bottle and doesn’t want to change.
Something is up with the UCs as it’s unlikely that the mid tiers have figured out yield protection. Either many more people decided to stay in state this year than previous years, they are reducing in state spots to offer more out of state hedging on international students disappearing or they are waiting and start doing in state waves in July. This year it does seem like the stats for OOS admits is crazy lower than for in state which is really pissing people off. |
I'm in CA and several classmates of my daughter (Palo Alto HS) have received late waitlist admits from multiple UCs (including UC Santa Barbara, UCI, UC Davis, UC Santa Cruz). |

Any movement on the W&M WL?
|
| With the various visa issues ongoing, when would the Harvard situation need to be straightened out before incoming freshmen are impacted and the school resorts to the waitlist, with potential ripple effects on other waitlists? How long does F1 processing normally take? |
I bet they start moving the WL this evening after 5pm. They usually move on Thursday early evening and didn't move last week. I'd expect ever Thursday the month of June. |
William and Mary took some earlier in May. An email went out around the 3rd week of May saying the waitlist was closed. I would assume a few more will be taken depending on summer melt. |
| Anybody heard about any Stanford waitlist movement since early May? Only hearing crickets... |

Harvard?
Bueller, Bueller? |
read above. |
| DD just got off cornell wl this afternoon. wash u last week, which she declined. she is committed to gu, but this will be a tough decision! |
| Rice accepted people off the waitlist today |
| Movement today for Stanford, Cornell, Northwestern, U Wisconsin, Rice. Yesterday, Northeastern Boston, Georgetown. |
Who’s turning down Stanford? Internationals? |
Stanford's yield is 81%. Presumably, people turn down Stanford for cost reasons or to attend HYPM. |
I'm in CA and at least one of my DD's classmates turned down Stanford for a late admit to UC Berkeley. The $ difference is real. |
