How does Robyn Lady plan to bring overcrowding relief to McLean HS? She was a counselor there so she is very familiar with how MHS has been neglected in many aspects, particularly with its facility. Since she has been also been with FCPS for a long time and has seen how MHS compares to other schools (facility and capacity wise), what is she proposing to help with overcrowding relief at MHS? |
Lady spent one year at McLean over 20 years ago before moving to Marshall and then to Chantilly, where she worked for many years. She might know about the overcrowding at Chantilly but hasn’t expressed much interest as a School Board candidate about the situation at McLean. The statements on her website about school overcrowding are every bit as vague and non-committal as Bartkowski’s. Really, based on their platforms, Lady’s #1 issue is teacher pay and retention and Bartkowski’s #1 issue is parents’ rights. If your #1 issue is adequate facilities at MHS, you’d be better off talking to Ilryong Moon than to either Lady or Bartkowski. |
Thank you for the link! I was at MHS and didn’t see anyone handing out flyers for Bartkwoski. Why wasn’t there any obvious presence of the the group endorsing him at BTSN? |
"political issues"? It's a political office. What exactly do you mean by this? I checked his website and issues page. It is by far the most extensive and detailed of any at large candidate. |
| Tony Sabio was at BTSN and arguing with a parent about crazy 2nd amendment crap. I'm not voting for that insanity... |
| I met Saundra Davis at our back to school night this evening. I talked to her for a minute. She seems very sincere and concerned about getting the core focus back on academics and improving transparency. She also said she will work on improving facilities and better allocating resources to support teachers rather than growing admin staff at school. Thats what I’d like the board to pay more attention to. There are so many grandstanders on the board today who seem to be more concerned about their political futures than our kids futures. After meeting her, I’m going to got for a Saundra. |
Isn’t he the guy running against Frisch? There’s no bigger moron on the School Board, and no bigger stooge among the current candidates, than Karl Frisch. He spent four years ignoring constituents, wasting money, and trying unsuccessfully to get elected to state office before now deciding to run for re-election and start blitzing people with e-mail updates. If someone decided to bait Sabio into an argument about 2A, so what? No one could possibly be worse for Providence than Frisch. |
Sounds both mainstream and sensible. |
I am in that District and both options are freaking terrible. Sabio would not be focused on academics, he would just be harping about evil rainbows and parents' rights. |
|
Frisch didn’t even want to stay on the school board. (!) He wants to be in Richmond but was defeated in the primary. His whole reason for running for school board was to use it as a stepping stone for higher office where he can work on issues he actually cares about. His greatest accomplishment on the school board is voting to keep our schools closed longer than almost any other jurisdiction in the country and wasting the federal relief money for learning loss on non-academic per projects. He is a total hack. He has never raised or educated a child. He lacks formal education beyond high school. He’s really unfit to stay on the school board.
Sabio would bring a fresh perspective. There are no fathers on the board today. I think boards of all kinds need diversity of thought and experience to produce the best decisions. |
Better than being focused only on rainbows and pronouns. |
If you assume both are terrible, then vote for the newcomer (Sabio) to at least send a message that crappy School Board members are one-termers. Frisch has been insufferable for the last four years; can only imagine how he'll behave if he gets re-elected and goes into full Sally Field "you like me" mode. |
Isn't Frisch running for a state level position? |
I've had several conversations with Karl Frisch and he is caring and knowledgeable about literacy standards and other academics. Based on his handout and his website, this other guy just doesn't know what he's talking about. I'd prefer we not elect another Elizabeth Schultz |
He tried that and failed (lost a primary). Of course, if he gets re-elected to the School Board, we can expect him to try and run for another office again while still on the SB. |
