| I really enjoyed the first 3/4 of this book, some good tea and good insights into how the royal family works. I went in not being on team harry or team anyone else. But what has struck me is how much Harry puts Megan on a pedestal. She never made one mistake, she was like mother freaking theresa. It was always everyone else's fault. Its like he is projecting the image people had of Diana on Megan. I hope he continues therapy because this is not sure to end well. |
+1 There is not one instance where I feel sorry for William in this book (except for the passages about his feelings of loss on the death of his mother). William gets to be King. That's the prize he needs to keep his eye on. Let Harry the Spare have his beard, and whatever uniforms he wants to wear, and whatever woman he wants to marry. William needs to get a grip. |
Also no concern over his niece Charlotte when she cried over the dress at age 3. No it was all about Meghan! |
Megan is his wife. Why would you expect him to throw her under the bus for his family who in his opinion, threw him under the bus? You want him to be on the outs with everybody in his life? He's already chosen a side. |
Certainly not. TBS, admitting someone made a mistake or accepting responsibility for misunderstandings is not throwing your wife under the bus - its being authentic and human. He describes her in a light that seems like he's full of BS or blinded. He was so authentic in the rest of the book, which is why it struck me as so odd. |
The book has definitely left me on team Not-William but I actually think that Harry should have some empathy for William. As much as Harry thinks he's in a gilded cage, it's much much worse for William. William never would have been able to go to war or do all of the adventure travelling Harry has done. He wouldn't have been able to marry whoever he wants. His life is very very scripted. William probably has a lot of resentment towards Harry, which shows in the beard incident and several other times in the book. Overall, I enjoyed it although I really think it was a mistake for Harry to trash his relatives, I got a little queasy reading all of that. I would have preferred more on the "mechanics" of royal life. Did he get lessons on being a prince? How do they get about and plan for an outing? I mean there was some of that but I would have liked to know more about being a royal than what a royal pain it seems to be. |
He is blinded. That is William's issue with them. |
| Has anyone watched The Windsors on Netflix? Camilla is portrayed on that show just like Harry portrays her in the book, lol. The royal leak who hates her step children. |
So just to make sure I understand you - him having the #1 bestselling book is evidence the no one is interested in what he has to say, and he definitely won't be able to write a sequel unless he, checks notes, stops providing details about his experience with the dark side of his family. Yep, makes sense! |
It’s his wife! That’s who he is riding with now. Not his brother or father, who by the way, have happily screwed Harry over for their wives and in the name of the Crown, for years. Anyway, of course he is blinded. As he should be. All of you all who think they makes sense for him to lay out her mistakes in book and “accept responsibility” can’t be married. |
But Harry also writes in a way that shows he is looking for a fighting, looking for his family's disapproval. He took his father's request not to bring Meghan to visit the Queen during her last days as personal "Don't bring her." But in reality, Charles was saying that no wives were attending. |
It isn't going to end well because it didn't start well. Harry and Megan's third date was a safari in Africa! I mean come on, anyone would fall in love with a third date like that! |
You are a wonderful dreamer. I think about that date and just getting caught up in the logistics when you don't really know someone. I'm like what about shampoo? A flat iron? Where would I wash my clothes? Do I stink on all these hikes? |
Thats not quite what I meant - here's an example... when William pushed harry into the dog bowl and Meg finally found out about it he said she didn't even get mad, just sad. That's a load of crap. I'd be pissed as hell. I don't believe the way he characterizes her at all. |
But have any of those things actually been offered to Harry? If so, that doesn’t seem to be public knowledge. (I’m not counting vague, unattributed stuff in the very tabloids that Harry criticizes in his book as reputable sources here.) |
