DD is starting high school and she prefers modern/edgy clothing. (In other words, NOT Vineyard Vines.)
Anyone have suggestions for where to look? She's had some luck at H&M and I suggested she look at Zara Trafaluc. Any other ideas? |
| Topshop within Nordstrom. They have it at Tyson's. |
| Maybe buy one outfit and stick to what she has for a month or two so she can decide if that still the look she wants to go with. |
| Forever 21 has some of everything, although the stores are usually a disaster. You might have better look ordering online. |
| Modcloth? They have something for everyone. |
| Hot Topic. |
I kind of love the mental image of a surly teen shipping for'edgy' clothes with her mom.....at Nordstrom. |
| My artsy niece gets a lot of stuff at vintage stores that she mixes with Urban Outfitters. |
| Urban outfitters nordstrom |

Edgy/modern means different things to different people. My DD is a Rookie kind of kid - so Etsy and Modcloth plus the fast fashion places and thrift/vintage shops do the trick. She'd call the the department stores like Nordstroms and Bloomingdales old lady clothes and Urban Outfitters falls in the "basic" category with Abercrombie & Fitch, Pink, and other mall stores.
If you mean Fashion Week fashion forward, have fun in NYC and Paris because you won't find much of that in DC or online. |

Etsy
Modcloth Urban Outfitters Free People (expensive) Top Shop (expensive) Hot Topic (if edgy means graphic tees and a punk/goth vibe) Forever 21 (some of every style) H&M |
| She also may like the online store Brandy Melville. They are good for small and average sized teens. A lot of their stuff is one size fits all. |
| I buy my childrens clothes in London. |
Yes, very edgy. |
When's the last time you were n Nordstrm? The Topshop in Nordstom is a very popular and trendy stand-alone store in London and Paris right now. |
