I wouldn't want to support this company. Really contributes to negative body images for girls IMO.

Thanks for the great suggestions!

For the vintage shoppers -- any particular stores to recommend in the Falls Church/Fairfax area?

It is all terrible clothing. We go w jeans, a leather jacket or two, trendy tshirts from hot topic and cool boots.

This thread made me laugh! I have a geek chic, edgy eighth grader and had no idea where to take her. I took her to Nordstrom (thinking I was being nice spending a lot I her) and it was an utter failure! The much cheaper Hot Topic was better appreciated by her.

Why do you want to encourage DD to project "edgy" on first day of school?

Seriously - what is DD wearing today? Why not the same for first day of school?

Op says her daughter prefers edgy so it's not about OP encouraging it. And what's wrong with edgy?

I kind of love the mental image of a surly teen shipping for'edgy' clothes with her mom.....at Nordstrom.

Yes, very edgy.

When's the last time you were n Nordstrm? The Topshop in Nordstom is a very popular and trendy stand-alone store in London and Paris right now.

+1. Clearly PPs are not fashion forward themselves.

What's edgy about "very popular and trendy"?
