"Isn't this focus on the assistant a little bit of a side show? We know this guy did not invade the home and hold the family hostage overnight. We know that Savvas was calling/texting him the morning of the 14th in the hopes that he could help deliver money. We know from video surveillance cameras that he was not there on the premises as of at least 11:30 a.m. and that he was in Virginia, at least 30 miles away, when the fire broke out at 1:15. That strongly suggests to me that he could not have been the guy spotted driving erratically in a Porsche on NY Avenue at 1:30, BTW. "

I was not aware there was video surveillance footage available from the mansion?! If this is true, what exactly did it show? If it didn't show the assistant, did it show someone else? If Wint escaped being video'd, then others could have too.

But your argument about the assistant being seen in VA when the fire broke out is compelling. If he were involved, I'm sure Wint and cohorts would not have allowed the assistant to leave before they did.

JW was seen on video at a Lowes in VA.
I am not one tht thinks the Asst was involved, however everyone who was "in on it" or involved in the planning and execution didn't actually need to be on site to be a part of the crime.

To me, his inaccuracies are a function of an addled, freaked-out mind. He undoubtedly (we know this) got texts/calls from Savvas on 5/14, so it isn't incorrect to say that he got the details of the drop-off on 5/14. He didn't immediately tell cops that he'd heard of the errand on 5/13, but he corrected himself promptly. Could totally see a somewhat vague 5/13 text saying, "I'm going to need you to drop some money off. I'll give you details in the morning," followed by a much more specific 5/14 text saying, "go see person X at 8:15 at the corner of ...." If, after some serious shock/trauma, someone asked, when did you learn what you had to do, I could see thinking specifically of the 5/14 text before remembering the 5/13 one, etc.

Other inaccuracy is red bag to manila envelope. What possible benefit can he gain from this "lie" other than to potentially cover up his stupid move in instagramming the money in a red bag? There's no other benefit here.

Final inaccuracy is whether the red car in the garage was locked or not. He initially said it was locked and he unlocked it. He changed that to it was unlocked when I got there. Again, where is the possible benefit to him in this "lie"?

Nate Thayer has concluded that the Porche was abandoned at St. Christopher’s Episcopal Church, three blocks away from the childhood home of Savopoulos' driver at 5303 85th Ave, New Carrollton, MD. Thayer misses the point that it was also three blocks away from Wint's last known address as displayed on the charging document, 5408 85th Ave, Apt T2, Lanham MD. This is just one building away from the address Thayer cited. Also nearby is the address of Wint's brother, at 7779 riverdale rd apt 302, New Carrollton, MD 20784, three blocks from St Christopher's Church. Interesting circumstance that they all lived in the same neighborhood and that one of them was so stupid as to ditch the Porsche in their own backyard.

It isn't really that much of a coincidence that both Wint and Jordan were from the New Carrollton/Lanham/Hyattsville area since that is where American Iron Works is located and where the go-kart track is located. Jordan was a local hired by a local business. Wint was a local who had worked for the local business and at some point decided to target the business owner.

There is really no scenario that makes sense for the assistant to be involved with a psychopath who would kidnap, torture, and murder 4 people and risk getting the death penalty for a share of $40K.

But you're looking at it through the lens of a halfway intelligent, rational person. The person/people involved in this are neither.

But the assistant didn't do anything except deliver the money from Point A to Point B as directed by his employer. He is not implicated in any of the criminal activity. The only "bad" thing he did was not figure out that his boss was lying about why he needed the cash.

If the assistant wanted to steal from Savapoulos, he was on the inside where he had access and could choose better opportunities and more agreeable accomplices.

If you don't buy that, then think about it from Wint's POV. What did the assistant do that Wint would think deserved a share of the ransom?

Based on what we know about Wint, I think that if the assistant knew that Wint was holding the family hostage, then Wint would have taken him hostage as well when he delivered the money and he would have been the 5th body in the house.

It seems that there are several go-kart tracks. There is a track in Hyattsville, but the one that the assistant worked at was Autobahn Indoor Speedway in Jessup.

I read a link to something Nate Thayer wrote on another site. It was full of inaccuracies (as far as has been reported elsewhere). I've never heard of the guy and he seems a little off. He wrote in his article (at least twice) that "fingerprints" were found on the pizza. He also quoted someone he reffered to as the Washington prosecutor, when in fact this indivdiual was a former MD prosecutor with no connection to the case (ie, an attention whore). There were at least two other inaccuracies. I'm too lazy to look it up and link.

Actually the Wallace and Wint addresses in Lanham are just four apartment buildings apart, 5408 vs 5315 85th Ave, NE. Just a hop, skip, and jump through the trees where the burning Porsche was found. Maybe Wallace didn't realize Wint was going to savagely murder the family after extorting the money from Savapoulos. Crooks don't think about the death penalty. They just think they can pull off a big money caper without getting caught.

Sorry if this has been posted already but to me the biggest reason why I do not think the assistant was involved is this:

If the assistant and other criminals wanted to kidnap Savopoulos and get large sums of money, wouldn't there have been much easier opportunities -- like, say, when the assistant is supposed to drive him somewhere? Then you don't have to deal with the complications of the family, other household employees, etc. If the assistant was involved in this crime, they are truly the dumbest people out there. There are about 100 easier ways to kidnap someone when you are their designated driver!!

They wanted the family to be there so they could torture them and give Savopoulos even more incentive to give everything he had. These goons apparently thought that millionaires keep all their cash liquid and hidden in safes and mattresses. I would not be surprised if Wint and the assistant knew each other in some way. Or maybe this is a Charles Dickens novel where everything is a coincidence and the villain and innocent assistant just happened to live a few doors apart and never knew each oterh.

no arrests in so long. Count Wint have acted alone? Could one person do that much damage? Without a gun? I always thought the porche getaway made it seem unlikely that there were more involved (how did they get away - if there was a getaway car, why would wint take such a risk driving the porche) , but I couldn't wrap my head around how one person could do this by himself.
