I'm someone who tends to give Lively the benefit of the doubt more than others, but this could simply be due to the intimate scenes not having been scheduled until the back end of shooting. I'm definitely curious to hear more from the IC(s) though. It will be an important part of the case - did Lively really refuse meetings other than the initial one, did the IC really suggest added intimacy that Baldoni went along with, are Baldoni's handwritten notes accurate, what really happened with Ferrer, etc.

Well, we know she refused the initial meeting because we have those texts. And at this point she has not refuted them so I see no reason why we wouldn’t believe them.

Right, but I want to know if she refused other meetings. The first meeting came off as a casual meet and greet, like do you want to stop in and say hi? And she said nah. That's fine. If she refused to participate in other substantive meetings to coordinate the intimacy, and then complains about lack of an intimacy coordinator, then that hurts her case.

I have no idea about subsequent meetings but with regards to the IC I don't think it's a great look that Ryan skewered Baldoni in his depiction of Nicepool. He depicts Nicepool as a guy insisting on a whole bunch of things on set including demanding an IC (very Hollywood insider talk for a mainstream film) with the obvious implication that wanting an IC or other demands of a professional set makes you a whiny, beta loser.

Then he posted the quote below to Sandra Bullock. He was so obsessed with dragging Justin “covertly” on social media. Say what you want about Blake and Ryan, but they are def hypocrites. At no point did they act like professionals. But they expected it.

“For your birthday this year, I got us both intimacy coordinators. And an HR department. And clothing?'”

RR is the absolute worst.

I also joke with friends about terrible stuff that is going down while it is happening. Many people do but I understand your need to turn this into a major character flaw. If he is abusing or controlling that’s another issue, and maybe the yelling at Baldoni was Not Great. I don’t think his dark sense of humor (which made him millions on Deadpool and while millions of Americans find funny) should be on trial here, but if it is I don’t find that comment objectionable.

It’s pretty bad that he mocked baldoni in Deadpool and killed the satirical character in front of a flower shop less than two weeks before the iewu premiere. It was highly suggestive, especially since BL and RR were promoting the movie together. They knew what they were doing. I guess that’s not defamation, that’s “art”.

I watched a youtube video of all the Nicepool scenes strung together. It’s just really really mean and violent, and I cant find any humor in it, knowing it’s mocking a real person. Nobody would be okay if this was done to Blake.

I think a ton of people would be okay with it if it was done to Blake. People were pretty thrilled at the idea that SNL was making jokes at her expense. I don't even like Blake Lively but a lot of the commentary about her online is and has been extremely mean spirited (just look at the conversations in this thread about her appearance, for instance), so I imagine there would be a very enthusiastic audience for that exact kind of satire about her. She's certainly very far from untouchable or off limits in terms of criticism.

Like just as an example, I googled "Blake Lively parody" and immediately found this TikTok video of a man making fun of Lively's costumes and acting in IEWU. It's not flattering! And there is much, much more of this online.

https://www.tiktok.com/@michaelpavano/video/7462163111517179166?lang=en

The satire I’ve seen of Blake is mocking her mean girl behavior, her bad interviews, or bad fashion choices. Very different than blowing off her head and expecting it to be humorous.

Disagree, I think it's the exact same thing. The Nicepool character is mocking Baldoni's fashion choices (the man bun), the way he speaks, and his persona as a male feminist. To me that's pretty much the same thing as mocking Lively for the way she dresses or how she acts in interviews.

They both have kind of annoying personalities that are ripe for parody, actually. I think it's disingenuous to argue that the stuff mocking Lively is fine but the stuff mocking Baldoni is mean. They are both being mocked for their own behavior. This is part of being a famous person. Lively's been famous for a lot longer than Baldoni and been subject to a lot more of it over the years than he has. I also think this might be why Lively and Reynolds have such caustic, satirical sense of humor -- I think being in Hollywood for a longtime and having your private lives, looks, and everything you do criticized and picked apart and made fun of for years would encourage that kind of humor. It's like armor.

But legally, that really is not defamation. It's satire, it's very firmly protected by the first amendment. You might think it's in poor taste but it's not illegal and there is no possible action against Ryan or Marvel or Disney for it.

In a way Baldoni's clear anger about that Deadpool character actually hurts him. Because that movie came out in late July, a couple weeks before IEWU. And that's also right around when Baldoni hired TAG and was texting more aggressively with Abel and Nathan about getting negative stories out about Lively. This makes it look like that Baldoni was NOT just protecting his own image but was actually just angry and out for blood.

It's easy for me to imagine Baldoni going to see Deadpool and immediately recognizing what was happening with that character and getting very, very mad. And if that was his motivation in going after Lively in the press, this is problematic because that would make it look much more retaliatory.

Retaliation for being mocked is called defense and is separate from retaliation for SH.

Justin didnt make those videos?? Lady Pool (blake) violently blew nicepool’s head off in a hugely popular movie created by her husband. For a better comparison (but not really), you’re going to have to look at the treatment Parker and Stone gave to Saddam Hussein in south park the movie.

I know it’s protected. But it is still really cruel, even if 100% of her allegations were true. And we already know they aren’t.

But that's Deadpool. They blow everyone up.

Ftr I don't even like Deadpool and think it's overrated -- everyone I know who loves it has a kind of juvenile sense of humor. It's not my thing. But that's 100% within keeping of the tone of the franchise. And since you brought up Southpark, it's the same thing. You think they reserve that kind of thing for Hussein? No. That is a show that portrayed Sally Struthers being cooked and eaten by other people, blew up Barbara Streisand, and drowned Robert Redford in a flood of poop. And that's a small taste. Clutching pearls over Nicepool being blown up indicates that you are quite ignorant about how parody in these kinds of franchises work.

It's subjective. I think this kind of parody is the same. You view the parody of Baldoni as being different and more mean spirited because you like him and don't like Lively. Meanwhile I don't like either of them and don't really care about either parody. Sure, it's mean. SNL is mean too. A lot of comedy is about making fun of people. The Nicepool thing was 100% about making fun of Baldoni and men like him. That probably felt pretty bad to Baldoni but... so? I think his male feminist schtick is ridiculous so I don't really feel that bad for him.

Here's a TikTok making fun of Lively in interviews that was posted after that old interview with the Norwegian journalist came out last summer: https://www.tiktok.com/@fatcarriebradshaw/video/7404494278489115934

It's the same thing. Lively was really annoying in that interview. She earned the parody. Is it mean? Yeah, it is. I'm not going to sit around worrying about her. If she doesn't want to be made fun of in this way she should be less of a jerk in interviews. Just like if Baldoni doesn't want send ups like Nicepool, he should think twice about his whole male feminist persona which a lot of people, myself included, find narcissistic and self-aggrandizing (and, it turns out, hypocritical).

If it was done as parody it could be funny.

But, and I say this as someone who is similar, Baldoni lacks the sense of satire necessary to make that kind of joke. It's a skill. He is too earnest and I think perhaps doesn't have a great sense of humor generally, and I don't think he has the skill to do that kind of parody.

It’s not subjective. Justin did not create those videos, and they are not violent. I am saying you are not using actual logic.

Sorry, no. Go watch it and report back.

Why does it matter who made them?

I actually have more respect for Reynolds making that criticism of Baldoni himself, and Lively participating, and putting their names on it. They owned it.

Baldoni paid shady PR people like Jed Wallace to spread critical content like this online, in a way that he thought couldn't be traced back to him, while at the same time appearing in interviews praising Lively. It's very hard for me to respect that. It's so weasely.

I don't necessarily believe Baldoni is so hurt by the parody, just pleading as many examples as he can to fluff his complaint. His defenses to Lively are pretty strong but his cases where he is the plaintiff are fairly weak and, IMO, more of a media strategy.

Get to the part where his gets head gets blown off and report back to us. Your comparison makes no sense.

That prior to the hiatus there was an IC who was hired as a consultant, but it was only after all the May / June complaints that they hired 2 ICs to work on the set and I believe they were present going forward once filming resumed.

It’s satire, not explicitly directed ant Baldoni, and most importantly not a real threat, like the ones Lively is receiving on social media that you don’t seem very worked up about at all. Get worked up about those and report back.
