When all this first came out it looked like Sony was just the distributor, but we now have evidence that that wasn’t the case. Justin in an interview talked about Sony’s major partnership in this and how he allowed it to happen because he wanted this film to be seen more broadly.

It is the whole reason Blake was cast. I’m tired of people throwing up arms and being like why didn’t Wayfair demand she sign the contract? Why didn’t they demand she turn in the nudity rider contract? Did you not see what’s happening from day one. Justin had very little control.

Sony wanted to keep Blake happy so that Ryan would be happy. Well, I’m glad it worked out like this for them because I don’t think Ryan is going to be the future money maker they once thought.

Wayfarer was still the production company and the ones running the set and negotiating the contracts. I am pretty sure they would still be the ones getting the riders signed - not Sony. And Justin gave up a lot of control from Day 1. He actively and exuberantly encouraged Blakes input into writing scenes before filming even started.

I don't know Sony's role but wanting the film to be seen more broadly would still be distribution. But Sony didn't seem to be doing the casting or running the set or negotiating the contracts.

Not the point I was trying to make. Agree it was all on Wayfair shoulders but they couldn’t push Blake because of Sony. That is the part that you were missing. They were very beholden to Sony and Sony very beholden to Ryan.

Essentially Wayfair had no leverage. People blame it on mismanagement, but I think it’s simply that they just couldn’t push for anything. He obviously should’ve never done this movie with Blake, which I’m sure he realizes in hindsight - it was a lose lose situation.

I agree. Both are true. Wayfarer is poorly run which we see very clearly early on but then near the end it’s clear they have no leverage at all. But I think the way they ran it from the beginning created the set culture that also gave her permission to take over. And no one told her not to or to stop and instead kept praising her.

You don’t see how there was pressure to praise her and given to her though?

I wonder if the roles were reversed like they usually are in the situation if you look at it differently. We always blame women for not quitting or walking away, or for playing nice for not rocking the boat. I feel like Justin did the same thing, and the reward for it was extortion.

I'm someone who tends to give Lively the benefit of the doubt more than others, but this could simply be due to the intimate scenes not having been scheduled until the back end of shooting. I'm definitely curious to hear more from the IC(s) though. It will be an important part of the case - did Lively really refuse meetings other than the initial one, did the IC really suggest added intimacy that Baldoni went along with, are Baldoni's handwritten notes accurate, what really happened with Ferrer, etc.

Well, we know she refused the initial meeting because we have those texts. And at this point she has not refuted them so I see no reason why we wouldn’t believe them.

Right, but I want to know if she refused other meetings. The first meeting came off as a casual meet and greet, like do you want to stop in and say hi? And she said nah. That's fine. If she refused to participate in other substantive meetings to coordinate the intimacy, and then complains about lack of an intimacy coordinator, then that hurts her case.

I have no idea about subsequent meetings but with regards to the IC I don't think it's a great look that Ryan skewered Baldoni in his depiction of Nicepool. He depicts Nicepool as a guy insisting on a whole bunch of things on set including demanding an IC (very Hollywood insider talk for a mainstream film) with the obvious implication that wanting an IC or other demands of a professional set makes you a whiny, beta loser.

Then he posted the quote below to Sandra Bullock. He was so obsessed with dragging Justin “covertly” on social media. Say what you want about Blake and Ryan, but they are def hypocrites. At no point did they act like professionals. But they expected it.

“For your birthday this year, I got us both intimacy coordinators. And an HR department. And clothing?'”

RR is the absolute worst.

I also joke with friends about terrible stuff that is going down while it is happening. Many people do but I understand your need to turn this into a major character flaw. If he is abusing or controlling that’s another issue, and maybe the yelling at Baldoni was Not Great. I don’t think his dark sense of humor (which made him millions on Deadpool and while millions of Americans find funny) should be on trial here, but if it is I don’t find that comment objectionable.

It’s pretty bad that he mocked baldoni in Deadpool and killed the satirical character in front of a flower shop less than two weeks before the iewu premiere. It was highly suggestive, especially since BL and RR were promoting the movie together. They knew what they were doing. I guess that’s not defamation, that’s “art”.

I still think it’s interesting that Baldoni is friends with (and has had on his podcast) Penn Badgley (Lively ex from gossip girl days) and Scooter Braun. Of course Braun is known for as Taylor Swifts enemy who bought her catalog. He also owns or mostly owns the PR company Baldoni used, which also smeared (Swift friend) Selena Gomez back in the day at the request of Hailey Bieber/justin Bieber. Plus Freedman previously defended Meghyn Kelly successfully and in turn he then sat down on her podcast to talk about the Baldoni lawsuits. (Wonder how much Jed Wallace was also involved in these cases?). Plus the support from Candace Owens. And who is Baldoni’s main benefactor, the billionaire Sarowitz who is comparing his intended all out defense of Baldoni and Wayfarer to Israel’s no holds barred defense against Hamas? It’s just a weird unseemly bunch of people to have in your corner.

Such a reach. Freedman is also representing the Menendez family’s push for resentencing, which many on the left support. We shouldn’t judge someone by their clients or guests on a podcast. It’s just business.
Anonymous
Freedman may be a sleaze, but he’s definitely playing chess. I was so shocked when they involved Taylor Swift in this. I really thought, wow that’s a major mistake, now you’re going to get all the Swifties against Justin.

But he knew what was going to happen and he was 100% right. Taylor has distanced herself publicly and that is not a help for Blake. And the TS army has not come for Justin.

If Swift’s army came for Baldoni, seems like that would just increase the value of Baldini’s claims. Right now, Lively has a pretty clean case (seemingly) that they don’t take steps to hurt Baldoni online, unlike Baldoni. Involved Swifts army and all bets are off, so that could be purposeful.

I watched a youtube video of all the Nicepool scenes strung together. It’s just really really mean and violent, and I cant find any humor in it, knowing it’s mocking a real person. Nobody would be okay if this was done to Blake.

But legally, that really is not defamation. It's satire, it's very firmly protected by the first amendment. You might think it's in poor taste but it's not illegal and there is no possible action against Ryan or Marvel or Disney for it.

In a way Baldoni's clear anger about that Deadpool character actually hurts him. Because that movie came out in late July, a couple weeks before IEWU. And that's also right around when Baldoni hired TAG and was texting more aggressively with Abel and Nathan about getting negative stories out about Lively. This makes it look like that Baldoni was NOT just protecting his own image but was actually just angry and out for blood.

It's easy for me to imagine Baldoni going to see Deadpool and immediately recognizing what was happening with that character and getting very, very mad. And if that was his motivation in going after Lively in the press, this is problematic because that would make it look much more retaliatory.

I think a ton of people would be okay with it if it was done to Blake. People were pretty thrilled at the idea that SNL was making jokes at her expense. I don't even like Blake Lively but a lot of the commentary about her online is and has been extremely mean spirited (just look at the conversations in this thread about her appearance, for instance), so I imagine there would be a very enthusiastic audience for that exact kind of satire about her. She's certainly very far from untouchable or off limits in terms of criticism.

Like just as an example, I googled "Blake Lively parody" and immediately found this TikTok video of a man making fun of Lively's costumes and acting in IEWU. It's not flattering! And there is much, much more of this online.

While I find Justin kind of batty and I definitely think some of his feminism is put upon, I think overall he’s a decent guy. What really stands out to me that that of course we shouldn’t be surprised that a self proclaimed feminist so called beta male would stand a chance in this industry.

Ryan se Ms to truly hate his wife and I don’t know possibly women in general. People have been revisiting his social media posts about Blake in the past, just making her look bad with unflattering pictures, just saying really mean things about her, just dismissing her….under the guise of humor? I don’t know. One of my favorite musician’s wife just had a birthday and he posted a really sweet, but simple message and some pictures of them together. Didn’t try to insult her. If I had to choose what my husband did on social media I would definitely pick that guy’s approach. It’s really not that hard.

And then the whole SNL thing, people picked up on her standing alone after the end of the show in the bleachers while Ryan was up on stage. Looked pretty mean to me.

I think he hates everything Justin stands for and knew he could walk all over him. I thought that nicepool thing was really disgusting. And blowing someone’s head off in this political climate… Give me a break. It’s not funny.

I watched a youtube video of all the Nicepool scenes strung together. It’s just really really mean and violent, and I cant find any humor in it, knowing it’s mocking a real person. Nobody would be okay if this was done to Blake.

The satire I’ve seen of Blake is mocking her mean girl behavior, her bad interviews, or bad fashion choices. Very different than blowing off her head and expecting it to be humorous.

This guy is hilarious with the forlorn facial expression and the lips! His makeup is perfect too. I am actually envious of his skill in that area.

Add the Taylor Swift and it's a chef's kiss. I'm shocked that Blake and Ryan haven't tried to shut him down.

Different couples are different. I personally don't believe in posting messages to my SO on social media at all because it feels attention whore-y. But I will note that the trolling between Reynolds and Lively has always been a mutual thing. She's also posted a bunch of stuff making fun of him. It's clearly part of their relationship vibe with teasing and pranks. It's not my thing but I don't think it makes sense to say he must hate her because they participate in that.

I have a friend whose husband often posts extremely loving and supportive things about her on social media for her birthday or Mother's Day or whatever. I also know that he follows a ton of Instagram models and have personally seen him straight up ogle other women right in front of his wife. So I don't put much stock in the social media posts. That is not how you show love or respect for your spouse, IMO. That's something you do to prove something to other people, which may or may not be true.

Justin didnt make those videos?? Lady Pool (blake) violently blew nicepool’s head off in a hugely popular movie created by her husband. For a better comparison (but not really), you’re going to have to look at the treatment Parker and Stone gave to Saddam Hussein in south park the movie.

I know it’s protected. But it is still really cruel, even if 100% of her allegations were true. And we already know they aren’t.
