New Leadership at Landon School

Anonymous
Jim Neill, the 6th Headmaster of Landon School, took his new post July 1st. He's a graduate of Gonzaga, Harvard and NorthWestern University's Kellogg School of Management. For the past 9 years he's been running the National Presbyterian School (NPS) successfully. Worked before that at a Sacred Heart School and before that St. Albans. In his first letter from the Headmaster he writes, "For in a world marked by change, uncertainty, and ever-growing complexity, there can be no doubt about the crucial nature of our mission, which calls on us to develop productive, accomplished, responsible, and caring men whose identities and actions will be marked by a commitment to character, honor, and excellence. This is the work of Landon. And it is work that I am gratified to embrace and eager to begin." Looks promising. DC Mom

Love Jim Neill. Landon is lucky to have him!

Great hire by Landon.

Smart move to hire a young guy who is from the area and clearly is very well connected with other privates.

Did not know he was a Gonzaga alum either.

+1. He did great things at NPS. He previously taught at Georgetown Visitation in addition to St. Albans and the Covenanat of the Sacred Heart High School in San Francisco.

I have met Jim and he's a terrific guy.

Previously, I would have never considered sending my elementary-aged son there. Now, however, depending on how things go I would consider it for high school. We are about six years out from that point.

We are a former NPS family and cannot say enough wonderful things about Jim Neill. Landon is beyond lucky to have him.

what is soo special about Jim Neil?

He has some very impressive degrees but he is coming from a school not many folks outside of NW DC have ever even heard of.

NPS - lets be serious.

I don't know Jim Neill. But, given a choice between your silly, mean-spirited post and the posts of NPS families with years of direct experience, I have a good opinion of Mr. Neill. Sounds like a great hire for Landon.

Sorry your child didn't get in. Yes, you really did miss a great experience.

I never applied my kids to NPS as I had never even heard of the school until this year.

As a Landon parent with a child in both the lower and middle school, we are very excited to have Jim Neill as head of school! He really has started off with a positive message! And our experiences with the heads of the lower school and middle school have been great too.

You seem weirdly proud of that.

We are thrilled he is coming to Landon!

We are a current NPS family and will look at Landon for our sons now that there has been a change in leadership. We have absolutely loved Jim-- he is an all around class act.

I wouldn't expect any changes in the Landon culture or in who sends their sons there and why. For those who love the school, this is good news.

For those that don't, who cares about them anyway? They send their sons elsewhere.
