Does your spouse know your "# of partners " did lead them to believe it was higher or lower?

male here my number is 4, spouse of many yrs probably thinks its 6-8.. never specifically discussed her # or mine but I intentionally made references to a higher total when conversations came up to more closely match hers which I think is 5. i'm 95% sure her # is 5 or less and it could be 3. Kinda just thought my # seemed low. Men inflate this number artificially unless its already a high number? women lower it? |

I never discussed this with my wife. She knows I was not a virgin, and knows of 3 or 4 that I slept with...I know of 3 that she slept with but the number may be higher....
The only one that was a problem was the one I found out about 3 years ago -- the event occurred when we were seriously dating (a family wedding that I was not invited too)...apparently she went back with a band member.... |

Yes. Mine was 5, hers was 3. All were within the context of a relationship.
I don't think the actual numbers were important so much as the context. |

DH has had somewhere between 50 and 100 partners. I've never asked him specifically how many and frankly, I doubt he would actually be able to tally them all up. He was the very attractive front man of a fairly popular band that toured a lot in the 90s (which he would probably be mortified if he knew I was telling people, even strangers on the internet) and by his own admission, he slept with a lot of random girls while on tour. My early insecurities related to his sexual past were about the girlfriends that he had during the time when he was banging groupie-types on the road, not the groupie-types themselves.
He's my 32nd partner. He's told me that he is uncomfortable thinking of me with anyone other than him, which I told him is an understandable feeling for both of us to have, given the numbers involved on both sides. Despite this, we have an incredibly sound and supportive marriage. I'd like to think that our vast early sexual experience has made us both pretty incredible in bed, but that might just be the chemistry between us. |

| My wife has never asked me, probably because her number is high and doesn't want me to know - LOL. Maybe this is how women think vs. men, but if she has any insecurities it is more about a former girlfriend she knows I loved deeply. On that, she has asked a lot of questions. |

| I'm really surprised by how many of you have never just gotten it out there. My number is 5, including DH. DH's is 3, including me. I think he expected mine to be closer to two, but we got it out there, and there is no mystery around what our numbers are or why they are what they are. |
