Tom 100% told Logan what the plan was
Tom took it immediately from Shiv, then he called Logan immediately. When Shiv called Tom it was daylight, by the time they arrived it was dark. Tom is understandably tired of being second to Shiv and the rest. He’s not going to do anything that would endanger the lifestyle he’s worked hard to climb. When he said Shiv, what’s in it for him, He absolutely knew that them being in control he’s stay in the cycle. Logan does “owe” Tom for this information so Logan would’ve obviously offered him a stable seat at the table. And, of course between him and Greg they will do everything to stay on the right side of history. Remember Tom told Kendal “I’ve never seen a Logan get F@#$ but you, I’ve seen you get F@#$. Tom is going to secure himself a position and that shifts the dynamic of his marriage with Shiv. The look of reassurance on Tom & Logan’s face said it all. Plus the writers hinted at it toward the end, |
Again all these looks and pats are meaningless bc Logan does the same with everyone and trashes them the next second. |

My Reply to ^^^
The writers hinted to it at the end Go back and listen Even Shiv caught the exchange and had to play it off |
I missed the shoulder pat the first time around, but the writer does 100% confirm it during the little talk after the episode. We wound up rewatching half the episode on replay, and once you know what to watch for, it’s clear that Logan is thanking Tom and also that Shiv catches the shoulder pat and immediately understands its significance. |
That was more than a hint. They confirmed that Shiv reacting to the betrayal was the perfect ending for the season. |
| Everyone who doesn’t believe it was Tom needs to watch the discussion with the writers after the credits. |

What I didn't understand was Shiv's reaction when she realized Tom betrayed her. I expected her to be repulsed by him but instead she seemed to be intrigued.
Was there a hint of respect for him from her? She knows he helped Logan and will have some favor when the deal goes through. Is she hoping whatever good things come his way from Logan she will be able to parlay into an important spot? Shiv also looked pregnant. She was shot from the side so many times and the dress made her look like she is already pregnant. |
Yep. Logan's most important quotes "Money wins, every time." "I f@cking win." |
Tom has always been next to meaningless to Logan. He doesn’t go out of his way to pat Tom on the shoulder and favor him with a smile for no reason. There is a reason here. Not sure why this is difficult for some of you to grasp. |
| I just rewatched the kids talking in the car and Kendall says that the mom got them control of the holding company in the divorce. |
In the “Controlling the Narrative” short at the end, the writer said they filmed it multiple times, until they got a shot where Shiv realizes Tom betrayed her, and then she pulls on her “armor” and reacts like a Roy. I do think she looks at Tom with a new respect, but at the same time is devastated. Her look at the very end after she walks across the room is brilliant acting. Did anyone else catch the similarities with the shot through the doorway to the end of The Godfather? |
| NPR leads their recap with "Guess Shiv shouldn't have told Tom she didn't love him, huh?" |
Because being given control of the company would mean that Daddy loves them and respects them. (Which he doesn’t.) Did you notice the difference in Logan’s demeanor when he talked to Mattson? He finally found someone he respects. Even though he said “No” to Mattson’s proposal, it was clear he was going to take it after he got Roman out of the way. Even though Roman told Shiv Logan told Mattson to “F*ck off,” he didn’t. |

Loved the way Shiv and Roman comforted Kendall in their own warped ways; it really rang true to who they are. They live their brother but they are f’ed up by dad and mom too.
Also, loved Roman going to Gerri for help at the end and Gerri, in true Gerri fashion, said, “but what’s in it for me?” And can’t believe Roman is shocked by that and thought their loyalties went further. |
| They love their brother, rather. |
