Tom clearly sold them out to Logan after being treated like shit by Shiv for years, with the finale last week when she told him she didn’t love him. What’s unclear to me is why Logan needed Tom to tell him what shiv, Kendall and Roman were planning- Logan would have known that the super majority was in the divorce agreement with his ex wife and presumably would have already planned to circumvent this. But nevertheless it was clear that Tom was in on it when he showed up and Logan patted him on the shoulder, combined with the foreshadowing this season: Logan telling Tom he “wouldn’t forget” his willingness to to help the scapegoat and go to jail, and the love he showed for Tom when he had the UTI and was delusional. Clearly the kids won’t take over, and Tom is gunning for it now, though he will obviously get crushed in the end. |
I think you are reading too much into a pat on the arm. |
Tom gave Logan a heads up that they were coming and what they were up to. Logan got to Caroline between the time Shiv called Tom and the sibs arrived where Logan was. |
You kidding? That pat on the arm was the cliffhanger of the season. Why the hell else would Tom be there the moment shit went down? Why would Logan warmly welcome Tom after his wife tried to stage a coup? Logan obviously knew that Tom was not on shiv’s side- because he warned him. |
Right, it’s just unclear to me why Logan wouldn’t have anticipated needing to get to Caroline in the first piece if he needed all of his kids to sign off. Why would he need Tom to tell him that? |
He thought he had Roman. |
I don’t know about this explanation, but for sure Tom ratted them out. |
Right, and he thought Kendall was fully out of the equation with the siblings. Everything was moving at lightning speed and it was Caroline’s wedding day. Plus, Tom just showed true loyalty to Logan and Logan alone. The emperor likes that, regardless of whether he needed Tom’s head up or not. |
You might be able to dismiss the pat on the arm, but you can never dismiss a big Logan smile. |
| To be honest, I don’t get why the kids even want to run the flailing company at this point. Kendall, who’s the most qualified to take over, is in his own words, an emotional mess. Shiv is completely against everything the company and ATN stands for, and Roman is even less qualified than his siblings. Don’t get why they wouldn’t stay on the board and walk away with board seats and simply standing to inherit billions of dollars. |
Of course that’s what happened, recall Tom says to Greg “are you ready to make a deal with the devil?” |
Me again, the only thing I couldn’t figure was why Tom needed Greg but it may just have been a plot device to keep Greg in the loop |
I don’t think he needs Greg, but sees Greg as an extension of himself - an outsider who is never taken care of by the family- and therefore trusts him, or at the very least wants him along for the ride. |
PP again. And Greg feels similarly about Tom. The whole season, Greg would not commit to taking either Kendall or Logan’s side in their feud. However, in the finale, he went with Tom quickly and enthusiastically. |
He smiled at the end of last season when Kendall blasted him to the media. |
