I think everyone is well aware of the issues. However, there are families there that stay because of how happy their kids are and the quality of the teachers. Thankfully Boarman is leaving and they can start to turn their reputation around.

I respectfully disagree, I think people aren't really aware of the just how big the issues are at Bullis. There seems to be an inside joke that everyone understands about it being new money and the public you pay for, which has always seemed silly and trite to me. The deep-seated issues that will really affect your kids (like the financial mismanagement enabled by "cozy" relationships at the head or the really gross bullying problem or the rampant drug problems in the Upper School including using in the classroom or the self-segregation among kids and families or the unhappy teachers) haven't really been mentioned in the retained comments here.

What the PP says is true. From a former Bullis family here- Our child is now at a Big 3- he was academic, not super sporty and Bullis was a disaster. Despite some very good teachers and nice facilities, our child's class was full of mean, clique-y kids, and a clique of horrible materialistic exclusionary parents. Though there were some very nice families, the rich obnoxious Potomac parents and their children, including big donors, ruled the class. We wish our friends who are still there well, and I hope for their sake a new HOS can turn it around but it's a nightmare for kids who are not at the top of the pecking order bc of money or athletic ability. And NO it is not the same at every DC private. Our new school is inclusive, our child has friends across many groups and the parents are kind and welcoming. I would run as far away as possible from Bullis until they demonstrably address the issues I mentioned as well as the ones raised by the PP.

Please. Are we supposed to rejoice that Bullis meets the minimum expectations of a high school? That's not enough for me at that pricepoint. I can tell you that my DD was significantly behind on content in math and foreign language coming into a W high school after transferring from Bullis.

The average W high school student is going to be significantly brighter than the average Bullis student.

Keep telling yourself that, El Cheapo.

Bullis average SAT = 1260
Churchill average SAT = 1340

That’s great! Send your kids to Churchill then.

Over Bullis? Oh believe me, I will! LOL. Bullis.

Nastiest parents in the DMV. At least at the other schools, their kids are smart.

This is exactly how I feel. It was a disaster. Many left this year for these reasons. My DC is now at another private (not Big 3) but a school where we feel valued.

Not sure who you're talking to, but are you trying to refute Bullis parents' rep as being obnoxious and immature?

Are you sure you aren't the one making the majority of the negative posts toward Bullis? I mean wherever I read about best privates in the area, Bullis is usually in the conversation.

As a Bullis person, love the haters!!! It's awesome. Haters have signaled from the beginning of time you are doing something right. Have a blessed day!

We we told during the summer the school was out of financial aid dollars so unfortunately we had to pull our daughter.

We then learned the schools admitted a 4 star quarterback from Canada and another football player, a senior transfer, from Watkins Mill.

You really think these families are paying anywhere near to full freight? I know of other current families who were told the same story from the FA Director.

It’s because of situations like this why Bullis reputation is turning into a jock school and if your son or daughter doesn’t play football or track, men’s lacrosse, or basketball, the administration doesn’t seem to care about you.

The sad thing is we wanted to keep our daughter there as she really enjoyed some of the teachers she met.

Canada? I think you mean New York.

You guys just need to stop with the stereotypical inferences. Athletes have parents with jobs. Some athletes also come from transient families.

If you needed financial aide why didn't you apply on time like everyone else. The deadline is early spring and not summer.

Entitlement issues.
