OP Here. College is expensive and hard work. Plus, you sacrifice current earnings by going to college. I think most, if not all people go to college for educational interest and advancement. You have to have access to a lot of money to just go to college for the hell of it.
But you might not care as much if it's not your money--scholarships, grants or financial aid for select groups such as AAs.
I'm black and got about $2k total from grants. I did apply for a merit scholarship and that was another $2k or so. But I paid for the bulk of my education.
There are many scholarships available to minorities. There are also many scholarships available to women only, whites of various ethnicities (Jewish, Irish, Italian, etc). What is your point?
Do you honestly think that AAs are given free rides to college? If so, where the heck was my free money? These student loans are kicking my ass!
