Yes, this is how evil people operate. With older kids, they often target kids of divorced parents, or any kid who seems to be struggling (and needs a “friend” who “understands”).

She doesn’t seem to be the type of attorney that one would hire if one were to simply enter a guilty plea. It seems like Thomas is getting ready to fight these charges. I want Thomas to goto prison for what he did.

Prisoners are traditionally very supportive of this kind of offender.

What is the likelihood of a conviction? Will this go to trial?
If convicted, what kind of sentence?
Given the expensive lawyer, could this be dismissed?
Does the fact that he has not been released on bond mean that the evidence is compelling (in addition to the flight risk determination)?

I did not know this about the victim, but I did wonder if they were foreigners who did not have the same background knowledge of child abuse prevention that the American middle class is constantly talking about. I am French. In France recently, there have been massive cases of child abuse that have been prosecuted, or have come to light. The cases date from decades ago, but it's only now that victims dared to speak up. There is still relatively little training about what to look for if you're the average parent - it's still all hush-hush and taboo. The US is very much at the forefront of talking about abuse in all its forms compared to the rest of the world.

You could still say the same thing about the US though.
