The victim's last name is very obviously from a European country (I don't want to get specific bc my comment got deleted last time).

I'm wondering if the way the victim's mom handled it was a result of her being foreign, it being a cultural thing in their country (ex: not believing a child's word over an adult's word), or a combination of both.

Thomas is a predator who knows how to select his prey carefully.

I did not know this about the victim, but I did wonder if they were foreigners who did not have the same background knowledge of child abuse prevention that the American middle class is constantly talking about. I am French. In France recently, there have been massive cases of child abuse that have been prosecuted, or have come to light. The cases date from decades ago, but it's only now that victims dared to speak up. There is still relatively little training about what to look for if you're the average parent - it's still all hush-hush and taboo. The US is very much at the forefront of talking about abuse in all its forms compared to the rest of the world.

Thank you for chiming in on this. I think so many people here in America don't know how far ahead the rest of the world we are in terms of openly discussing abuse in all its forms. I think the fact that the victims are foreign played a large role with them giving Thomas the benefit of the doubt and with the victim's mother's reaction.

This is exactly it… pedophiles select kids of parents who are deemed less likely to recognize/believe/confront the red flags, and children who they believe are less likely to speak up. Knowing how to spot the red flags and speak up AND regularly taking to your kids about these topics is so important.

4000 Mass would be in bounds for Eaton, without any other knowledge of whether they were there or elsewhere.

Definitely Eaton. His membership on the HSA is mentioned in this thread, which AFAIK is only the term used at Eaton for their PTA/O equivalent. Also, if you google his name and Eaton, you get a link to the board of their aftercare program; you can still see his name in the summary blurb, but they've wiped it from the site.

I hate every time news outlets say he was arrested for “having UNWANTED sexual acts with children”.

…AS IF an adult’s sex assault could EVER be “wanted”.

This is exactly how media exposes its bias.

Thomas Mahony was arrested for:
SEX ASSAULT of CHILDREN.

I would not be surprised if the “unwanted” language reflects the wording of the applicable criminal law, and the press is using that wording

At least Breitbart said he was charged for:
Sexually Abusing his children’s playmates.

When will Thomas Mahony be charged with crimes committed against the 4th victim? The Washington Post article says there’s a 4th victim.

Don’t be silly. There is NEVER “wanted” sex assault of a child by an adult.

The Breitbart article also lists ASA and MVP as communities he was a part of. The Breitbart article is quoting The Washington Post when it lists ASA and MVP.

Thomas Mahony’s case number in the DC Superior Court online system doesn’t have any docket information about the 4th victim yet.
