It seems like a pretty good philosophy to me!

I think this is true but I also think they have a good idea of some of the players they want. I don't think this is mutually exclusive.

Pride and Stars girls looked strong. A few others looked really good too but have no idea where they are from.

My guess is the VA parents have a solid idea of who will make which team from Pride, Stars, VA Metro and YJ. I have no doubt there is real talent from other lesser regarded teams that I hope Cap would give a solid look at it even if they did not do all the politicking.

They will find about 6-10 from the other clubs. Athletes

More Stars will make it than should if it was like the 27 class. Don't underestimate the Stars / Capital / SSSA relationships.

Exactly. They are looking for athletes that could plausibly be recruited in a few years by D1 programs. There are a few (handful+) athletes on MD teams, Pride, and Stars that fit the bill. Then there are the other matches that will come out of the woodwork. Flashy stick skills is not going to cut it. That stuff can be taught to good athletes.

If being an “athlete” is so important, how does Capital make that assessment? Is there a combine? Or is it really about lacrosse skills?

Can't speak on the Florida player but the M&D Black player part is true, Good Counsel girl.

In the spirit of anything-but-Capital-tryouts talk, it looks like The St James made a sensible adjustment to switch to more club v club games in the JV division, given the early season blow-outs of high school JV teams.

Stars LB and Pride will play twice now.
