How can we make DC streets bicycle and pedestrian-only?

The same people who believe that people on bikes shouldn't be at risk of getting hit and killed by car drivers also believe that people on motorcycles shouldn't be at risk of getting hit and killed by car drivers.

These same people also know that it's possible to make this happen and that we know how to make this happen, notwithstanding your obsessive hatred of people on bikes.

City residents would be in better health if everybody used a bike or public transit.

No one needs a car in the city. It’s a luxury that is leading to rampant crime. We are all better off without cars.

Yes, let's take away anything people might steal. Perhaps we should all be issued grey jumpsuits to wear as well?

Yes, the resident DC carjackers have seen your post. They are taking cars and dumping them outside of DC in support of the cause.

So maybe Mayor Bowser's "Crime for All" program is part of her "Vision Zero" strategy? Mission accomplished, Madam Mayor!

Criminals on the MBT now target bikers. Be careful, everyone.

FFS you can't even hid your attempt at trolling. Almost no one is better off without a car. Why do all the families that cant afford a car want one?

It is now 2024; a new year!

How can we make DC bike-only a legislative priority, and maybe a reality, in 2024 ?

Maybe the city should shovel the sidewalks by their property. Walking to work was a nightmare.

And uh the number of bikes stolen every year is many times the number of cars stolen

How about forcing persons released pending trial on felony charges to wear neon-pink reflectorized jumpsuits so that the police and the public can keep a wary eye out? In DC a number immediately re-offend after being released pending trial.

This would actually help me stop crossing the street when my threat meter signals and hurting peoples feelings. Pink jumpsuits, bells, maybe bulky pink jumpsuits so they are visible, risible, and have the disadvantage in a fight.

You just want to kill the remaining businesses in DC? Many restaurants are complaining that the lack of parking is taking away from their businesses. Uber is making traffic worse and I'm not biking to a restaurant at night.

Please go away with this nonsense.

But trucks, busses, cars and motorcycles ruin it for us residents.

DC is geographically tiny, so why not make our streets pedestrian and bicycles- only?

A moderate Democrat here. This post simply shows how completely out of touch some people are. Sidewalks were literally built for pedestrians, and see few sidewalks being overwhelmed with pedestrians.
