Tell that to our ES principals. Ans our recess aides.

Plenty of ES kids outside with masks on at recess.

"Endemic" in the case of Covid will mean living with a virus that shortens our lifespans significantly, and kills many times more people each year than the flu does. Endemicity, in itself, is not what we should be hoping for, but rather, better treatments, higher rates of vaccination, and if we're lucky, evolution of the virus to be less lethal.

I am sure we will continue to work for better treatments and higher rates of vaccination (isn't that a given?). However there are limits on who will agree to be vaccinated. We can't stay in pandemic status forever.

That's not a negotiation. There's a definition of a pandemic. We're still in one. We're not close to being out of one. The only people saying we are are saying it for political reasons.

It really doesn't matter what you call it. Our leadership failed to get it under control.

Oh absolutely. Biden has been an unmitigated disaster.

But there’s not much we can do about that.

Regardless of what you call it, its here to stay because people will not take precautions to get rid of it or reduce it so it doesn't continue to mutate. There is another mutation that is either here or will be coming very soon.

Better treatments would be great as well as better vaccines but we don't have those as of today.

I completely agree its here to stay so we may want to figure out how to live with it. I will probably continue to mask. And I'm vaccinated. not sure what else I can do honestly.

We are living with it. Most people aren't doing much of anything so I don't get all the drama. Very few people are taking real precautions still.

Beyond masks and vaccinations what else should we be doing?

Be healthy. If you are overweight, have diabetes, smoke, drink too much, use drugs, etc. Get treatment and get healthy. Vaccinate and get healthy. Wear masks in crowded situations. That is where we are now and all we can do.

If life were only that simple. There are some health issues you cannot control with diet and exercise and there are no cures and insurance will not cover the new medications that may help. Not overweight, don’t drink, smoke, eat healthy, and vaccinated. Don’t go in crowds. Vaccines don’t stop Covid. So, grow up. Life is not that easy for all of us.

We can vote him out at election time. I had high hopes for him.

What?? That makes no sense. There might always be a new variant to come along. Do we just keep masking indefinitely? NO

Lift the mandate and set a metric for when it would need to be reinstated.

When the number of hospitalizations reaches X number. Or the ICU utilization increases. Whatever metric they choose.

There is a new variants here. We can try to stop it or all another surge. Enjoy Covid and don’t complain when you get it again.

Kids are not required to do so outside. At my school, the ones with masks have them on either because they want to, their parents want them to, or they’re so used to it they’ve forgotten they have one on.

My 3rd grader has to wear a mask at recess. Guess I need to take it up with the principal. Why can't there be consistency?

Be honest - Covid will always kill not because people are not masked at the Giant. Americans are unhealthy. Obese folks account for over a third of hospitalizations. I don’t see that changing.

Maths! Obese people account for 1/3 of all Americans.

Perhaps. Don't forget Trump's "it'll be gone by Easter" lie. And Q. And all the talking heads at Fox. And Joe Rogan.

99% of the hospitalizations are atni-vaxers

You literally said that if you lift the mask mandate you can't put it back, but in the next sentence you say to start Fall without masks and if there is a variant you can put the mandate back. That seems contradictory, no?

Looping back to the original point, after yesterday's news of NJ , OR, CT and DE dropping masks and MoCo's vaccination rate of 84.3, I think masks will be optional by spring break.

Folks, this is not a bad thing. This means things are getting better.
