When you are a houseguest, what do you like offered at breakfast?

New to entertaining houseguests as we have always lived in shoeboxes! We have a guest arriving from UK for 3 nights. What should I have on hand in the morning for breakfast? What have you appreciated on offer when you have stayed as a houseguest. I'm thinking I'll make a big batch of granola, have Greek yogurt and cut fruit every day plus coffee and juice. Maybe croissants one day too. I need a few more solid ideas! Thanks!!

Sorry. Im pretty simple -- cereal or toast is fine by me. But I also expect to buy the people putting me up for a few nights with meals.

Ask them. We have houseguests now and they are flexible - made them waffles.

A few basic choices...bagels or toast fruit yogurt eggs?

I think the only thing people are really likely to expect is coffee. Or perhaps tea, since your guest is from the UK. Otherwise, whatever you offer will be fine.

yogurt, fruit, toast (bread, eng muffins, or bagels). COFFEE.

when we have guests, I typically have cold cereal, or oatmeal, fruit and a couple kinds of milk (one dairy free). If they are visiting over the weekend, I'll usually make waffles just because I love waffles and they're usually a hit! I think the yogurt fruit and granola would work.

Coffee and fruit (doesn't need to be cut up..I'm thinking bananas, grapes, etc.). If you decide to do croissants, definitely try the Trader Joe's croissants in the frozen section. You let them rise overnight and then bake in the morning. So, so good.

Whatever is most convenient for the host/hostess. It's nice to visit, so I can adapt.

Coffee. Doughnuts for a treat (I don't normal eat them, so it would feel special). Or let me take you out to breakfast.

Thanks everyone! Your responses have taken a lot of the pressure off! And I'm excited about those Trader Joe's croissants.

make sure to drag it out of them how they like their coffee. weak church coffee is almost worse than none at all if you like strong coffee.

full English breakfast...yum

Coffee for me, tea for DW, some kind of fruit or juice. After that, whatever the hosts like to serve is fine.

I see no suggestions for hot and savory food. Why not offer coffee, fruit, cold cereal and offer to make omlettes or scrambled eggs, rashers etc. Everything will literally take minutes.
