How likely for save act to pass senate?

Anonymous
Is it legal or a poll tax? Only way to solve this is in the courts. If it passes congress, still not sure it would actually get implemented before 2026 midterms with all the inevitable court cases against that will be filed, likely eventually ending up before the Supreme Court.

It won't pass and every time Democrats win an election, Republicans will scream "voter fraud!! That's why they were against requiring proof of citizenship to vote! They want illegals to vote so they can win!" And all the MAGA idiots eat it up.

This. It’s so obvious. The plan is just to sow uncertainty so Trump can try to pull another coup. Let’s not forget all the screaming he did about mail-in ballots months before the 2020 election. It’s the exact same playbook.

You can also tell by the amount of effort the maga bots are putting into arguing. This will be the new caravans approaching the border.

Yup and they are all lying about "illegal immigrants getting licenses and illegally voting" No this is part of Project 2025 and many people decided that was fake news. It WAS NOT!!!

How do you know they did not? If you don't have ID, it is entirely possible and there have been instances where it is proven.
How do you know who casts the nursing home votes?
Who casts the mail-in votes?

Please give an example of when illegal voting EVER came even remotely close to affecting the outcome of an election. If it’s so widespread, you should be able to prove it.

And of the federal govt has our voting history & you’re a Dem and apply for a passport, maybe the understaffed Dept of State will take its own sweet time to process your document.

Doubt this passes the Senate but if it does, it will be challenged by states, immediately. Remember "states rights."

And while it will hurt Republicans most at first, red states will suddenly get PO passports back and those will be processed first. FWIW, if you have trouble finding an appointment in DC, try to get one on vacation and while visiting family in other states. Sometimes that's easier. And once there's red-state preference, maybe you can slip in there somehow.

The only times I have seen this, it has been GOP voters including Mark Meadows, the former Trump chief of staff.

Please cite links where this happened, it was democratic voters and it turned an election.

Go read up on how the states of Utah and Washington set the standard for the multiple fail-safes that prevent voter fraud for mail in ballots. The concern you are expressing simply isn't an issue. And it has been proven in court and anecdotally, time and time again, not to be an issue.

Women that marry get the form to change your voters registration when you have a name change and also change your ID at the same time.

You change your drivers license and passport at the same time so all of your ID's match.

That doesn’t change the name on your birth certificate. If you do not have a passport, the SAVE Act would require you to show a drivers license and a birth certificate to register to vote. If the name on the birth certificate doesn’t match the drivers license (like because you got married), it’s a problem according to the law.

Just keep your name. You can answer to whatever name you want whenever you want, but officially just keep your own name.

Too late for the 50M+ married women who already changed their name and don't have a matching birth certificate?

This is not hard.

When I was married in 1999 in MD, my name was automatically changed to my husband's name. It was at the Rockville courthouse. When I filed our certificate, I was asked if I wanted to change my name at this time and I said no. I thought they meant change my name to my dhs name. It was a few months later, when I needed a copy of my ssn card that I was informed that my name was changed upon marriage and the clerk was basically asking me if I wanted to change it back!

Your birth certificate does not change. Just like with Social Security, you need your birth certificate to get a number and a marriage certificate or other legal documentation to change your name.

While Supreme Court approved Indiana voter ID, Indiana provides a free ID for anyone who needs it for voting purposes. That is the catch here. If we want to have voter ID without violating the Constitution, it must be provided for free.
