So I know some people who claim their child is part Indian (because their great great grandmother was Indian) on schools' forms to get some advantages.
I'm just curious what do they get? |
| You mean Native American or Indian from India the country? |
| You get a free t-shirt and tickets to the Nammys. |
| They immediately set up a home visit and want to learn about your customs. They will totally set you at ease while they extend their visit. They might even tell some more people from the school to come over to your house to visit. They explain that they will educate your kids but it will be in another language. Then slowly but surely they will have you "gift" your house to them and you need to find a new place. Don't worry it will only be two hours away and it's not like they make you leave empty handed, they give will give you blankets to take with you that we're only used once by tsome anti-vax families. |
Native American, obviously. |
| They don't actually get anything directly. But they up their school's diversity score and schools like being diverse. |
| If you apply to a public school in your state and identify yourself as Native American, Oklahoma State admits you instead. |
Awesome response! |
Awesome. |
Maybe you should ask them? And if a great-great-grandparent was American Indian, then the child IS part American Indian. |
| IMO, I don't think greatx2 NA should qualify. That makes you like 1/8? At that point, you don't even look NA. |
I thought the cutoff was 1/16. But I could be mistaken. |
| Inordinate spelling ability. |
Wrong Indian. Also, South Asian genes don't somehow convey English-language spelling ability. It's effort, motivation, and persistence, just like with anything else. http://www.washingtonpost.com/local/indian-americans-dominate-national-spelling-bee-then-slurred-on-internet/2015/05/25/8ec01098-f414-11e4-bcc4-e8141e5eb0c9_story.html |
The criteria vary from tribe to tribe. Some require 1/2 for membership, some only 1/32. Greatx2 is 1/16. http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blood_quantum_laws But, as OP asked, qualify for WHAT? |
