New Additions to Leagues Check Up (ECNL & GA)

Anonymous
A verbal commitment is a coach telling a player I want you on my team.

An official commitment involves signed paperwork from both the college and player agreeing to scholorship amounts, etc that the player will receive.

Usually official committments occur after (within a month) of verbal commitments. But you never know and things could change. Sometimes (rarely) college coaches find someone else and sometimes players use verbal commitments to leverage into better schools.

With a 28 player roster limit who knows what might happen. Before coaches could carry as many as they wanted. The means the rarely backed out of verbal commitments.

That must be so cool, as a father of a mid tier boy I don't expect to ever see the sidelines stuffed with recruiters, a little jealous even if we aren't on that journey.

ECNL boy parent here. We had 60+ coaches at one of our games. They mostly were D3. So you will get scouts, it's just not D1 or as many.

There are only 347 D1 Women's programs.
All of them were there plus 200 more?

Many colleges have multiple scouts attending. Which likely explains the numbers.

noticeably missing is the total number of college programs attending and the total number of D1. lmao.

521 D1
134 D2
124 D3
45 NAIA
18 JC
10 US Soccer

lol there were not 521 D1 college programs there. just cause you bring you ops person, your marketing person, your grad asst, that doesn't count. but GA has to use those figures cause if they posted the amount of D1 programs who attended, the truth would come out

Its getting more difficult to do this now that GA is posting stats and controlling the narrative.

the drop-off in D1 programs year to year for GA is devastating

Players make a verbal commitment and then sign around a month later? Is this a new process?

They are not saying programs - but they are clearing showing what they are counting...is it a little misleading, perhaps. but they are not saying "521 D1 programs" they are not dumb - they know there is not that many. But they are saying scouts/coaches/etc. it is what is said and they comment on their own post and say "thank you to all the scouts" ... they are also showing it is coming off the Athlete One data ... they know what they are doing by posting it - just like what ECNL does or has ImYouthSoccer do ... It's all a game ... but if you were in CA for the event, you saw the coaches and you saw the attentence. They were everywhere. Same as ECNL, probably not. But there were a lot and it was visible.

People that gobble down iamyouthsoccers posts want biased manipulated data/info to confirm their own bias. It really is that simple. And he feeds it to them while selling recruitment services. Not hard to figure out what's going on.

Im glad that GA has started to push back on all the nonsense with nonsense of their own.

I just went to the site and counted the amount of D1 programs at the GA event. what the x account said is right and the decline from the previous year is correct. don't understand what the issue is? did he say something wrong?

it's not that he said something wrong, GA posted information that looked good for GA, so right on brand for ImYouthSoccer they posted something negative to GA to make ECNL look better. The post was only 27 D1 programs were at the GA Finals. Someone posted they don't think its a GA "quality" issue due to only 8 teams are playing at the u16 and u17 age and the travel for that doesn't make sense on an ROI due to cost and their season is close to starting and they just saw these same players a few weeks ago.

IYS then response about GA is declining every year and then someone followed up that ECNL only had 22 D1 coaches registered for their finals and then silence, but the post stays. again, 27 is not wrong ... but just curious at the timing as it is not truly a needed post but it was a post right after GA posted data that made them look good. its just on brand for IYS.

Its actually even worse for ECNL than that.

GA is holding its national talent id during finals. Many D1 coaches will choose to attend this over either finals.
