| We are thinking about getting on the wait list for this club. What is the general consensus about the club, facilities, fitness areas, and members in general? We were brought up in a small town where our club was fun and friendly and worth the money. This is what we are looking for. Thanks. |
| It's for social climbing. |
| Most of the people I know who belong have kids that go to Jamestown (or maybe the new school, Discovery). I think it's a bit different around here because there are other nice pools that people belong to, so it's not like all people in your "social set" will belong to the club. That said, it seems nice. I know a family who is currently on the wait list - I think it will be 2-3 years before they are supposed to get in. |
| It's not known for being a swim powerhouse. The families I know who joined did so for other reasons. |
| We have very close friends who are members and we go often as guests. Long standing family membership, LOL. Kind of clique-y but it really depends on what you're looking for. |
| I could afford it, but would not join because because no one in my family plays golf and the membership is not worth it for just the pool and tennis. I would not describe it as a particularly friendly place either because a lot of the members are older and not looking to meet new friends or spend time around your young kids. |
+1000. Think Stepford Wives. |

From what I understand, you don't even get golf privileges when you clear the wait list. You have to wait a few more years for those after joining.
It is a bit snooty. But they put on an excellent fireworks show on the 4th of July. |
| The golf course is gorgeous and the new renovation is beautiful. That said, if friendly is what you are looking for it's probably not the place. The women I know there are vapid, gossip mongers without much to do. |
+1 |
| 6:51 and 7:47 are spot on |
| The few couples I know who belong are nice but yes, the term social climbers describes them very well. |
The woman I know is the type that would step on your head to get to the next rung. Former dental hygienist who looks down her nose at everyone. Look before you leap. |
Yea. That's my impression also |
| Any more thoughts on this out there? |
