Asked by NBC News if the IDF had evidence to support its allegation that an individual in the vehicle was a terrorist, IDF spokesperson Daniel Hagari said the incident was “unfortunate” and an investigation was still ongoing.

“Every journalist that dies it’s unfortunate," he said.

“We understand they were putting a drone, using a drone. And using a drone in a war zone, it’s a problem. It looks like the terrorists,” Hagari said, adding that Hamas uses drones to collect intel on Israeli forces. “So we will investigate this incident and we will provide the data,” Hagari said.

Al Jazeera managing editor Mohamed Moawad told NBC News that Thuraya was a freelance drone operator for the network. He said the duo were in the car on their way home from filming the aftermath of an airstrike when their vehicle was targeted by Israeli forces, adding that they were not flying a drone while driving back to Rafah.

In a statement, Al Jazeera condemned the attack, calling Hamza and Thuraya’s deaths an “assassination” and urging legal action to be taken to restrain the Israeli military. The network added that the Israeli military has “systemically targeted” Dahdouh and his family.

So now the IDF story is that the people in the car may have been operating drones and since Hamas also operates drones, anyone who uses a drone is a target?

The IDF is morally repugnant.

Well yes, god forbid someone uses drone overhead footage to report on the devastation IDF brought! Why do you need reporters anyway? We have IDF press releases, that's good enough!

Why don't you run along and tell your hasbara paymasters Wael Al-Dahdouh has five more children left alive. Their work is not done.

I am sure there is an increase in antisemitism. The behavior at the basketball game is horrible, especially roughing up other players. "Free Palestine" is not antisemitic (one can be sympathetic to Palestinians' political aspirations without having any animosity toward Jews), but the other statement you mention is repugnant. Nobody should say that, and I hope the players will be disciplined.

Free Palestine is not, nor will it ever be, an anti-semitic remark.

And yet a coach and a player suffered IMMEDIATE and SERIOUS consequences - which is exactly what happens EVERY TIME anyone dares to criticize the sacred cow / the 21st century Voldemort / whatever.

This douchenozzle PP jazz hands'd away the FACT of a 6 year old kid being savagely slaughtered in a murderous act of Islamophobia, the FACT of three young men being sprayed with bullets in another murderous act of Islamophobia (one of them now paralyzed), the FACT of a deranged Jewish school teacher threatening to behead a student in yet another act of Islamophobic violence ... because some kids were scared of loud noises on library doors that one time. They asserted that certain language was used (there's no evidence of that, apparently), they asserted that the other team was "roughed up" (there's no evidence of that, apparently). All because Hasbara, and one group's seemingly never-ending campaign to slander critics of Israel and cast itself as victims.

Sincerely, why? Why do we have to deal with this insanity?

You omitted the part where the suspended basketball player said to the Jewish players “you fing Jew”. What does a teenage girl basketball player have to do with the conflict? All didn’t mention how the team tried to rough up the Jewish basketball team. Well deserved firing and suspension.

What doIvy League presidents have to do with the current conflict?

So it’s ok to call teenage girls “fking” Jews now? Got it, pos.

Did you read the latest update. The student who wrote the story that slurs were used has been unveiled as a liar by the adults who were there, on both sides. Sad, but par.

There’s no latest update. But you want to drag teenage girls and justify calling them fing Jews, way to show your antisemitism. Stop making stuff up.

It may turn out that more was said and/or done, but as it stands, it’s looking like Robin Bosworth is a liar, and that she fabricated (or at least greatly embellished) what went down.

I read the cnn article. The harassment was bad enough the game was cut half way. And I wonder how you would feel if someone just yelled 9/11 at a brown sports team or China fly at an Asian team. It’s racist then and it’s racist in this case even if the only thing said was free Palestine’s stop defending the indefensible.

The game was ended after the third quarter. Unfortunately, Ms. Bosworth and her teammates are learning a hard lesson that violent oppression has consequences, and sometimes innocents are caught up in the crosshairs. I mean, that's what we're told the loved ones of the tens of thousands of innocent Palestinians being blown to smithereens in Gaza should do, right? Just accept it and stop complaining ...

That said, it's looking like fabrications may have been published by Ms. Bosworth. If so, I have a hell of a bigger problem with THAT than I do anyone saying Free Palestine in any context. And why shouldn't I? If you're against freedom for the Palestinian people, you are an enemy of peace and human rights. I don't support liars and I definitely don't support enemies of peace and human rights, whether it's Israel or Hamas or Robin Bosworth herself. If it turns out she's telling the truth, serious consequences have already been doled out. But if it turns out she fabricated or embellished what occurred, she should be suspended from her school for the same period of time that the opposing team's player was suspended. Wanna bet how little consequence she will face if found to have lied?

So you are justifying bullying Jewish girls for what you perceive are Israel’s actions. And this is not anti semitism?
You raging anti semite.

Free Palestine and criticisms of Israel’s actions that are more than deserving of criticism (i.e., the entire body of their actions toward the indigenous people of the Middle East over the past 75 years) will NEVER amount to anti-semitism, no matter how hard you try to keep yourself in the limelight as the professional victim class. I’ll criticize Israel and Hamas all I want, and you can pound sand.

Sure but why are you yelling at this at non Israeli teenage girls playing a basketball game just because they are Jewish?

The noise from you and the PP amounts to nothing more than a death rattle. Whatever sympathy was generated after WWII has been eroded by the racist, murderous greed of Ukrainians or Russians like Netanyahu and his corrupt cronies. The only people buying the Hasbara propaganda at this point are the people already in the echo chamber with you. You’re really just preaching to your own evil choir at this point.

The charade is slowly winding down, though, thankfully. The chicanery that Zionists have used all along to distort the narrative is a rot that the inevitable march of time will bring to light. Looking forward to the accountability stage.

According to the updated story on CNN, one person said “Free Palestine”. One person. The coach was discharged and a player was suspended. Apologies were issued. Apparently for saying “Free Palestine”, which is an appeal that every compassionate human being should support. After all, the alternative is oppression, brutal subjugation, and slavery.

If those continue to be the facts, I’d say far more than enough has already been done. So unless and until the investigation finds more, there’s nothing left to say at this point.

However, with the demonstrated blind, unconditional, and frankly rabid support of Israel by a large portion of Jews in America, it’s not too hard to imagine hostilities toward that segment for both their actions and the actions of the state-sponsored terrorism that they support with outspoken zeal. What’s happening in the Middle East is reprehensible.

If you support the acts of any of the bad actors (including and perhaps especially Israel), you’re part of the problem. And people may yell at you. It’s the price of oppression, I guess.

The Emirati president rebuffed a request by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to pay "unemployment" stipends to Palestinian workers from the occupied West Bank whom Israel barred from entering its territory after the Oct. 7 Hamas attack, an Israeli official and a source familiar with the issue told Axios.

"Ask Zelensky for money," Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed (MBZ) sarcastically told Netanyahu, the sources said.
Why it matters: MBZ's refusal underscores the position of many Arab countries that have said they won't foot the bill to maintain the status quo in the West Bank and Gaza after the war.

"The notion that Arab countries will come in to rebuild and pay the bill for what's currently happening is wishful thinking," an Emirati official told Axios.

https://www.axios.com/2024/01/08/netanyahu-uae-mbz-zelensky-palestinians-unemployment

Blinken better get over there and get this straightened out. He should be pressuring these Arab countries to pay for all this. Maybe the US should pay these workers and for the rebuild of Gaza?

It seems to me we all can agree that Palestinian children are INNOCENT. Can the other countries not work together to create and transport them to a refugee camp, maybe in Egypt or Lebanon? It’s nuts that children are still in harms way.

First, and unfortunately, we can’t all seem to agree that Palestinian children are innocent. That’s why theres so much vocal defense of the bombing of civilian infrastructure/indiscriminate killing.

But the reason they cannot all be “transported” to Egypt or Lebanon is because they would never be allowed to return to Gaza or the West Bank. They would become permanently stateless. Forcible deportation is a war crime (goes by the name of “ethnic cleansing”) and while the Israeli government is pushing hard for such cleansing to take place, the neighboring states are not willing to be party to a war crime.

So it’s best to leave them in harms way? Interestingly most countries offered Ukrainians a way out of Ukraine, knowing that most likely they will never return to the occupied areas. Such an idiotic argument, we would rather let them die …

Or you can stop bombing. Just a thought.

"Bombing" has largely been replaced by targeted drone strikes, it would appear. Maybe not all of it, but a whole lot. And of course, Hamas is fully capable of ending the conflict by stopping. Until then, the IDF will pursue its goals of dismantling Hamas.

Yes I see, doing a great job of eliminating these pesky Al-Dahdouh children with the drone strikes. Hamas, not so much. Reporter’s kids, yes.

The IDF targets the families of those who speak out. They want to intimidate other journalists and poets from speaking up against Israel. That's why they butchered Al-Dahdouh's 15yo and 7yo children and his 18-month-old grandson. It takes incredible courage for Palestinians to speak out against their oppressors, given what they have to risk. Practicing free speech means you and your children and grandchildren could be murdered.

Instead of debating the veracity of whether IDF is deliberately targeting Journalists and killing them in violation of International law, more exposure to how the IDF is able to target and kill journalists in Gaza and Lebanon is what is needed.

Exposing the war criminals, not just the crime itself:
https://banthescan.amnesty.org/opt/red-wolf/

Danny Dannon , a member of Israeli war cabinet and Benny Gantz, a Likud MP said it would be Israel's intent to " track down and kill journalists in GAZA" who they alone without proof were trying to attribute collusion with terrorism to. https://www.bbc.com/news/world-middle-east-67375667

But just " how" they would track journalists and kill them they did not say- the means must be exposed: one tool is data skimming companies created by former IDF section 8200 " soldiers" aka as cyber criminals ( in my opinion) create fake FB and IG profiles to pose as Palestinians( using stolen personal photos and AI generated fake images, voice recordings to attract their Palestinian friends , build a data base and then store their location data, phone data, contacts lists and use that later for IDF targeted killings of the journalists and their families.

Some of the Israeli companies that facilitate this: : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unit_8200

Until the facts are out you don’t have a leg to stand on. And the fact that they did review video and decide to suspend the girl speaks volunteers.

Ok so since all Jews are zionists according to you and rabid supporters then all Muslims are terrorists. You are just an anti semite according to your logic.

But please don’t say there has been no increase in antisemitism. The ugliness is everywhere. Including in Yonkers NY where a Jewish HS ( The Leffell School) basketball team was playing Roosevelt HS.

They had to stop the game because the players on Roosevelt’s team were roughing them up and playing violently. They also shouted antisemitic slurs.

It seems that one of the slurs they shouted was “Free Palestine” during the game, while another one was “I’m pro-Hamas you f%#^*ing Jew”. Let’s just see if they suffer any consequences.

Nobody should say that, and I hope the players will be disciplined.

https://www.cnn.com/2024/01/08/us/new-york-high-school-basketball-investigation-antisemitic-comment/index.html

That’s not an updated story. That is cnn’s version of the story. The allegations are that the girl said “I support Hamas, you fing jew”. And that the Jewish team was being roughed up on the court. Until the facts are out you don’t have a leg to stand on. And the fact that they did review video and decide to suspend the girl speaks volunteers.

Israel Defense Forces troops refused to engage terrorists in Kibbutz Be’eri on October 7 and left members of the kibbutz to fight them off alone, amember of the community’s civilian security team recounted.

“The thing I remember the most, and the most traumatizing thing for me from this ordeal, was [being evacuated after hours of fighting and] arriving at the entrance to the kibbutz and seeing 500 soldiers stationed in an organized and orderly manner, standing and looking at us,” Yair Avital, one of the surviving members of the kibbutz’s security team, told Channel 12 in a segment aired on Wednesday, referring to the situation at 6.30 on the evening of the massacre.

Be’eri was one of the hardest-hit communities on that Saturday. More than 10 percent of its 1,200 residents were wiped out when some 3,000 Hamas terrorists stormed across the Gaza border into Israel, killing 1,400 people in southern towns, army bases and at a music festival, injuring more than 5,400 and taking at least 240 hostages.

Speaking to Channel 12 from the charred remains of the kibbutz, Avital and other surviving members of the security team recounted their ordeal and the way they say they were abandoned by the IDF

By 7:30 a.m., less than an hour after the terrorists entered the kibbutz through its main entrance and through holes in the fence, two members of the security team were dead and another three were wounded, Avital recalled.

It was at that point that five police officers arrived at the scene for the first time, each with nothing more than a handgun. Realizing that they were ill-equipped, they withdrew to get more weapons. But as the scenes from Be’eri repeated themselves across the Gaza border communities, they were reassigned to other locations and didn’t return.

You see it with your own eyes, you see terrorists pouring into the kibbutz. Truck after truck driving in here, probably under the influence of drugs,” survivor Elam Maor said. “They were an army with endless ammunition.”

At 9 a.m., a first team of IDF soldiers arrived at the kibbutz, more than two hours after the first terrorists broke through the entrance gate. But the soldiers, a 14-member team from the elite Shaldag unit, were quickly overwhelmed and retreated back to the kibbutz entrance.

On Wednesday, walking through the dental clinic where medics treated the wounded and the security team fought until their bullets ran out on October 7, Avital told Channel 12 what he saw there that morning.

“At this point, Shahar and Eitan [from the security team] are fighting and we feel like we’re winning,” he recounted. “Every one of them who passed by, the guys here killed”.

At 6:30 p.m., IDF troops finally arrived at the clinic, where Avital and the kibbutz nurse, Nirit, were the only survivors.

ive hundred IDF soldiers were outside, organized, with dogs, with equipment, weapons, and armored vehicles; they were standing outside and not a single one of them is doing anything,” he said.

“I remember shouting at them from the stretcher, ‘They’re slaughtering us! Go in! Save us!’ and none of them looked at me, none of them said anything.

“They kept repeating, ‘The field isn’t sterile, the field isn’t sterile,'” he continued, explaining that the insistence that the area needed to be “sterile” before soldiers could go in was a sign that none of them understood what was happening inside the kibbutz.

“No one understood that the well-known and familiar combat doctrine of the Israel Defense Forces no longer exists,” Avital said. “People here were losing blood every minute, and the army was out there, and didn’t understand what was happening, and it broke my heart.”

It took the IDF two days to complete the evacuation of Kibbutz Be’eri and to ensure that no terrorists remained. Prior to the October 7 massacre, the kibbutz was the largest community of the 25 that make up the Eshkol Regional Council.

What were they doing ? All the hostages wouldn’t have been able to be captured if they handled Hamas earlier

Wow, why isn't this being circulated more in media: Huff Post, Guardian,Le Monde, The Times ?

For his steadfastness in the face of so much personal loss Wael has been nicknamed Al Jabal, "the mountain".

Let’s be clear. It’s not just the IDF that is morally repugnant. It is also the majority of the Israeli government and most people living in Israel, not to mention the Jews who have no business pushing out, murdering and harassing Palestinians in the West Bank.
