Feel kinda bad but why does the Pioneer woman irk me so?

I love food network don't always love their "stars" I had made some of her recipes and have to admit they were good but I have this thing where I cannot watch her, I hate to admit it. Something about her looks and that frozen smirk on her face with no matter what she is doing and then her voice. Am I alone?

My H is a "hobby chef" so its on 24/7 in my household!

She's the Martha Stewart of the western ranch--everything is perfect, everything is delicious and everything is really bad for your arteries.

Her recipes are basic, uninspired, nothing. I bought a book of hers based on several friends raving and I'm not impressed by the recipes.

Her looks irritate the hell out of me

I feel exactly the same way about Rachael Ray. I think it's the "tool" factor. She works a little too hard trying to fit a mold and it makes her look like a phony caricature. PW is the same way but she doesn't annoy me as much as RR.

Can't stand her. Her recipes are uninteresting and she has this smarmy attitude that makes her impossible to watch.

Oh, and her voice is irritating. Almost as irritating as Rachael Ray's.

She lies about everything to make her persona "the perfect fish out of water ranch wife"

You can google and find several sites that expose her. Some of the most glaring:

She grew up about 20 minutes from the small town she lives in now, in another small oklahoma town. Yes, she spent her college years in Los Angeles, but she puts out that she was a "City girl" who married a cowboy and moved to the middle of nowhere.

She says she went from vegetarian to meat eater when she married "her" cowboy. She ate fish and chicken before, by her own admission.

She says she met Ladd (the cowboy) when she glanced across a crowded room by chance. They met on a date she asked to be fixed up on and she continued to pester the mutual friend until Ladd called her like 4 months later for a second date.

She calls her intellectually disabled brother "retard" or "retarded" and especially likes to make others uncomfortable when she does it. This was scrubbed from her blog when she got her cooking show.

She puts out that she has no help (housekeeper once a week for a few years but then she moved away), that she takes care of her kids on her own and homeschools them. She has full time staff, nanny and teachers. This was even before her success with the food network show.

She steals, verbatim, recipes and puts them out as her own. Some famous rip offs were from Martha Stewart, Lidia Bastianich and several off "Tasty Kitchen" her site where her "fans" can post their own recipes.

Many people feel their BML practices are inhumane. As is their calf surfing (riding on a calf as it is bound and being dragged by a horse) and some who know horses say their horses hooves are in dire need of care.

She is a scam artist.

WOW thats a boatload! I just find her perky always annoying smiling chubby face irritating, her voice like nails on a chalkboard and the way life at the ranch always seems a bit too perfect ANNOYING! Would be fun to see a REAL behind the scenes.

She's no more or less a fraud than any of the FN stars, really. I know several personally, and it always amazes me how much of their biography they can selectively enhance. It's not that they are lying exactly, more like buffing the truth to a misleading shine.

Mind you, this almost has to happen for any prodcucer to sit up and take notice. They want that juicy/cliche backstory so viewers immediately connect with them.

FWIW, I'm once removed from a good friend of PW. Said friend cannot speak highly enough of her and her genuine generosity. Granted, not sure how much they were using each other for personal gain but it does sound like PW is a good mentor.

As for her on air personality, I find it hard to watch but I feel this way about all home cooks on camera. And her recipes, while tasty, just aren't on point with the trends that need to be reinforced when it comes to healthful and mindful eating. But sugar and fat sell so most likely this is a choice her producers have made.

In any case, for a blogger to reach her level of success she's had to make a lot of sacrifices, even if it all looks lucky and effortless. I applaud her tenacity even if I think her food and lifestyle are a farce.

She is a scam artist hack.

Also looks like she was hit with a skillet full of makeup swung by bozo the clown.

Well, after she screwed over several bloggers early on, she may as well pay it forward. That her family are one of the largest land owners in the country and she pretends to be "just folks" pisses me all the way off.
