I doubt she cares - if this follows through - she'll be in a much better position that Camilla. Better looking, younger, the 'Queen' to Albert's 'Prince' and on top of that - they share a child who is already treated well and elevated. If they marry, Albert could legitimize and title the kid and no one would blink. (Note - the kid will never be heir and that's fine. He's got a billionaire royal dad who loves him and adores his mother)

You have a very active fantasy life.

He adored his mother so much he kept sleeping and making babies with other women.

Par for the course with racial dynamics and the royal family. The funny thing about Europe is there was another biracial royal couple dating when they first got together. The prince of Denmark had a half-Chinese wife and the royal circles absolutely threw a fit! He wasn't, and still isn't, even heir or coming anywhere near the throne. Albert marrying a full-black woman and putting her as head of the family was not happening in the 1990s. Now that he has had his heirs through his discarded wife - its a possibility. Have no idea what they plan though. Just watching with amusement.

Joachim and his bride - Alexandra in 1995 (she was stripped of her Princess title in 2007)

Women only care for their own children. Depend upon it that if there was a button Nicole could press to make Charlene's children die a painful death and have her son named as a legitimate heir, she'd do it yesterday.

It must burn her to see that Charlene's children are princes and hers isn't.

What in the world are you on about? I wrote that Charlene’s children don’t know Charlene so they have no reason to care about her marital woes with their father. Nothing is changing in their world. Nicole is the one their father has always spent his time with.

NP. You sound more than a little bit stupid. Producing heirs that racist Monegasque institutions could accept was nothing more than a business transaction. Fulfilling the condition of being king. It had nothing to do with love — as Charlene has found out.

Albert has already made Nicole Coste a wealthy woman in her own right. There’s nothing his heirs can do about that. I suspect the heir to the Monegasque throne will be more sophisticated than you are. Trotting out a show pony to breed and satisfy the doddering old fools who carp about tradition while loving and spending one’s life with someone else is par for the course among royalty. Albert’s son will probably do the same.

The prince of Liechtenstein married a black American and didn’t lose his title or path to the throne. It all depends on the monarchy and the determination of the prince. Most don’t bother rocking the boat officially because they know they can live effectively as man and wife with whomever they choose, as long as they confer the title of wife to whomever advisers pick.

You’re probably talking about me. I’m of European extraction and my father is a diplomat. Both of those facts make me a lot more familiar with the workings of Western European royal families than most Americans are. I am neither for or against Nicole Coste. Simply stating well known facts. She is the apple of Albert’s eye and between increasingly liberalizing racial attitudes, Charles elevating Camilla, Charlene being a public relations nightmare, and Nicole
having charmed nearly everyone in Monaco, there’s a very good chance Albert might elevate her in the next 10 years. I am sorry if that bothers you.

LOL silly he was making babies with Charlene AND other women besides Nicole.

I am not sure why you are intent on describing Albert and Nicole as a grand love affair when it is clear with anyone with eyes that the prince views women as disposable commodities. Have you any idea how many published accounts are out there from women who slept with Albert, before and during their marriage?

I guess he didn't love her enough to fight tradition, eh.

How did he find time to sleep and breed with others? I believe he's fighting yet ANOTHER paternity suit, this devoted gentleman.

DP. Not nearly as many Juan Carlos' cheating on his Queen Sofia. The man was rumored to have had 100 mistresses.

First, Albert IS the Monegasque institution.

Second, Monaco doesn't have kings. Albert is already a prince and all he had to do to get this title was to survive labor and delivery.

Why would it bother me? Too bad Albert didn't have the guts to marry her if he loved her all that much.

Monaco has a ruler only as long as there's a family to inherit and a people who support it. Although technically Albert's family owns the territory and without him/them it'll be reabsorbed into France...but I digress. Anyway - why court controversy when you can contract out a surrogate as a wife - have the kids that people expect to inherit the throne and then move on with your life not even 5-6 years later? He's played the mid-ranged, not even the long, game and isn't suffering for it. The surrogate is but Albert doesn't care.

Thanks to the newer posters here. I couldn’t make sense of what was happening with Princess Charlene. Like completely lost. Now that I am reading about Nicole Coste and son (thanks for the links), it’s all making sense. It seems like Charlene hoped she could avoid this, like this day would never come. Instead it was like running head first into a brick wall. Nicole has the son, the history, the personality, the charm. Charlene looks like she is constantly under lock, key and duress. I do not know how she can free herself. It’s almost like the best person to ask for advice is Nicole, and she burned that bridge. One poorly calculated move, and here we are.
