Gonzaga Kairos Vandalism

And if the Queen had two balls, she'd be King...

Joke all you want, but thinking that the justice system is blind and treats everyone equally is delusional.

This is what angers many of us. The vast majority of kids in the country (especially if minority and/or not from well-off families), if they committed the exact same actions, would not likely have escaped criminal charges. Textbook definition of privilege IMO.

It was well within the property owner's rights to NOT press charges...smdh

A refrigerator taken from private property and dumped into a river, thereby creating an environmental hazard, is a public offense. SMDH.

What are you going to do about it?

THIS WAS PRIVATE PROPERTY - no justice system was involved here because the OWNER chose to keep matters private...as is his/her right.

Why are you being obtuse? The point is that if the owner chose to keep matters private, it's because the perpetrators came from a position of privilege (i.e., money and/or connections) that allowed them to avoid the justice system. Most perpetrators in the exact same position would'nt have been able to do so.

No, it's because the property owner has ties to the school. It's really that simple.

Say it as many times as you want. They crossed the line of private dealings when they threw the fridge in the river. Somehow you are blind to that- does it not fit your desired narrative?

Why do you think the offenders are not black? Why do you think they’re white? What about the property owners? What assumptions are you making about them?
You should stop.

Would you bet your life savings on the offenders and property owners being black or white?

I've been an Ivy alumni interviewer in this area for a while. After Landon's SAT cheating scandal, it was years before my alma mater seriously considered a Landon application again. Colleges are taking note of this, so there will be consequences beyond what the school imposes. Unfortunately, the reputation effect will extend to kids who were not necessarily involved, but that is the risk you take when you choose a community.

I don’t understand the code you’re trying to speak.
I wouldn’t make assumptions one way or the other. You shouldn’t either.

NEWS FLASH: The mini fridge has now been properly disposed of and poses no threat to the environment. And its replacement has been installed.

Guess what, I’ve been one too for about a decade in this area and my Ivy knows better than to judge all students from a particular high school based on the actions of a few.

Stop dodging the question. I'm not asking you to make an assumption, but to make educated inferences given the circumstances and any known facts. We make probabilistic choices in our daily lives all the time without perfect information, but somehow you're allergic to that here.

You act as if the fridge was of commercial size and contained chemicals and hazardous waste. It was a mini-fridge (not that that makes it more acceptable....) that has since been removed from the river. I'm not "blind to it" nor does it "fit my narrative" - but I imagine if it's as big a deal as you're making it out to be, it will be addressed.

Does anyone know the charge for improper disposal and then removal, within 24 hours, of trash from a river?
