Who are these people that actually LIKE Trump?

Anonymous
My parents' cleaning lady lives in a trailer park in Florida and has always voted for Democrats. She says she and all her Democrat neighbors are going to vote for Trump. They like that he is straight shooter, no BS, tell it like it is. They are sick of regular status quo from politicians. I don't get it personally, and I'm a Republican.

This. What most of the people of this forum don't understand is that these are the people who decide who wins the Presidency, not the Beltway bubble people with multiple advanced degrees. Trump and HRC will tell them what they want to hear, regardless of how nonsensical it is. Elections have nothing to do with real ideas or competency of the candidate.

She's white, correct?

Donja just hate when the Christian majority is being held down by THE MAN! Do you people ever listen to the crap you spew?

Who is the "you" here? Are you against the Christian majority? I'm not sure who you are ranting against here.

Not the person you are responding to but I take it as a sarcastic comment directed at the people who yammer about such idiocies as the "War on Christmas" and who don't understand that America was founded as a secular nation with a separation of church and state.

It wasn't really founded as a secular nation, per se, but instead a multi-denominational nation, with a separation of church and state to protect minority religions and prevent European-style religious strife and oppression.

Please don't throw facts into the mix. You're messing with their narrative. Very tough for them.

And, yes, they know what you think of them. Your ignorant criticisms of their lives and choices only confirm their support of Trump.

thank fuck these are precisely the people who are losing life expectancy, as shown by the deaton paper.

NP here - I grew up in small town Pennsylvania and can confirm 100% that the support for Trump comes from small-mindedness, lack of vision, most people never went beyond high school and their interests are mainly just limited to sports and hunting, their world view mainly just comes from TV and movies.

If the people you're describing are hard-working, honest, and doing their best to take care of their families, your criticism of them reflects poorly on you, despite our "open-mindedness and vision."
I was getting ready to type the same thing when I saw your post. Bravo! Damn, I hate this area and the people in it.

this area has become inundated with liberal transplants who think they know everything! this coming from a native North Arlingtonian, born and raised in Georgetown and North Arlington, family from south america, and an independent leaning more to the right, not a democrat.

Time and changing demographics are a bitch.

Yeah, it did a number on the dinosaurs. Got us out of the Stone Age, too. Conservatives are about the status quo, they hate change, they hate progress.
Right. Because a religion that strips women of all rights and forces them to wear bags over their heads is extremely progressive... for middle ages, may be.

You hav nothing to cash in on if you aren't being fined, threatened, etc.

Were the Muslim bakers subjected to the same treatment?

I said all bakers should treat all customers fairly. How hard is that to understand.

What if the gays came in and wanted a double phallus shaped cake? Can the baker refuse? I hope so, but the PC/so called "Civil Rights commission" police would probably disagree.

Ten Reasons for Supporting Trump
1. Donald Trump is immune to special interest lobbying because he has accepted no donations or special interest money. No other candidate can make this claim.
2. Donald Trump knows how to negotiate. No one builds an international business empire the size of Mr. Trump’s without being able to win at the negotiating table.
3. Donald Trump is an executive. The President of the United States is the Chief Executive Officer of our nation. We don’t need a policy expert or a legislator – we need someone who knows how to run an organization. Mr. Trump is the only candidate who has a proven record as a successful executive on a large scale.
4. Donald Trump is honest. Mr. Trump is a man who tells the truth. He may not always say it in the most polished way, but our country has had enough suave liars. It is time for some straight forward honesty.
5. Donald Trump is decisive. We hear about his having business interests that filed for bankruptcy. In each case, he looked at the situation as it was, and then he cut his losses. We need someone who will look at government programs realistically and if they are failures; will end the wasteful Washington spending.
6. Donald Trump is courageous. Mr. Trump has been viciously attacked by the Washington establishment and the media – and he has not budged one inch. In other words, he is willing to take charge and lead.
7. Donald Trump listens. At Trump Presidential events, the audience gets to actually speak to him without being screened, and he responds without a teleprompter.
8. Donald Trump understands that a nation without borders, language and laws is not a nation.
9. Donald Trump has actually read the Bill of Rights, and is willing to defend its provisions. He is not afraid to speak about Christian persecution, and protecting gun rights.
10. Donald Trump loves this country – and says so. He wants to make America great again

While all of these things are fine and good, none of it actually makes Trump competent or qualified to run the country. He keeps demonstrating himself to not be knowledgeable on the issues, he keeps shooting from the hip and winging it, and as an educated person and critical thinker, that has me deeply concerned. His kind of glib, superficial a day impulsive approach would likely do more harm than good

What if a heterosexual couple wanted a penis in a vagina cake? Can the baker refuse? Of course. No one is saying bakers have to make obscene-shaped cakes, but if a baker makes penis or vagina cakes for heterosexuals then the baker should make a similar cake if requested by a homosexual couple. But that is not what the issue has been anywhere. The issue is bakers who refused to sell a wedding cake for a gay wedding. They did not ask for a gay cake. They asked for a wedding cake. Do you not understand the difference?

Why is every conservative argument on this forum an exercise in making stupidly faulty straw man analogies rather than arguing the actual questions at hand?

This. The gay couple asked for the same type of wedding cake that the bakery has made for every other couple, no penis cake. And frankly I'd wager that gay couples getting married would find a penis cake quite distasteful.

That's a crazy soup you're mixing tho ether in your hateful mind.

Jeff Davis & Condaleeza Rice are not really on the same side of any coherent argument. And how do transgender people figure in? Do you want to enslave them or waterboard them and mean old liberals wont let you? You need to look up the definition of freedom. It doesn't mean you get to oppress other people. It means the opposite. No one is enslaving you or making you gay. Just learn how to be a civilized person and all of your butthurt will go away.

And again, people wonder how Hitler came to power?

"First they came for the Mexicans but I did not speak out because I'm not Mexican. Then they came for the Muslims but I did not speak out because I'm not Muslim. Then they came for the LGBT but I did not speak out because I'm not LGBT."

Sound familiar? And it's EXACTLY the tone we are hearing right now from the Trump supporters.

Except....it's Christians that are getting the beat-down. Again, can you point to me the fines and legislative process against the Muslim bakers that refused to bake a cake for a gay wedding? I can easily point you to incidences of backlash against Christians. In addition, I see you did not mention Jews. Given there are more hate crimes perpetuated against Jews in the US than Muslims or gay individuals, I wonder why you left them out, especially while invoking the name of a man who committed genocide against the Jews.

I'm not trying to argue, but why would we put references to God on our money and monuments if we were founded as a secular nation with separation of church and state? That doesn't make sense to me.

I had to laugh when the pp talked about christians in the US getting the "beat down".
