Huh. This makes me think of guns and pick-up trucks.

It was a girl in my DS preschool… she went by Remy.

It is a name of Trump's granddaughter

Pretentious names are not Ainsley, Paisley, Reagan, Tiffany or Mercedes but Arabella, Nathaniel, Rosamund, Matilda, Juliette, etc

Nathaniel and Matilda? Matilda is just an old, old lady name.

Old lady names are everywhere these days. Matilda is pretentious because of: its literary and aristocratic roots, popularity in the UK, Michelle Williams' daughter. I see it as being in the same category as Harriet, Josephine, and Florence.

Wow, you and I have really different ideas of what is pretentious. What names do you consider average, normal, neither pretentious nor trashy?

Aww, I like Cormac. I picture a redhead with a feisty personality. Great Irish name- I don't associate Irish culture/Ireland with pretentiousness at all

I mean, they are Teen Mom trying to be "fancy."

Mercedes is a beautiful and classic Spanish name. Would be weird if you were not from a Latin/Spanish culture.

+1. Mercedes is a normal name in Spanish speaking countries.

Like how the name "Ella" is normal now in the US, but it sounds dumb in Spanish because it means "she" in Spanish.

Like how "Luna" (aka "moon") is super popular in the US, but no one is naming their kid Moon. Hopefully.

Eleanor. I know it's common, but I do not know one single Eleanor (and I know many) whose parents aren't at least somewhat pretentious.

Arabella Rose Kushner.

I loathe the Trumps, but I think Arabella Rose is a beautiful name.
