Taylor's Swift's new album - let's GOOOOO

And even that was a bit of a rip-off of Ace of Base's 1998 "Cruel Summer," which was originally by Bananarama in 1983. Pop stars all lose their fast ball in their 30s. She would have been 29 or so when "Cruel Summer" was recorded.

Taylor has zero room to falter on songwriting or music production. I’m not a swiftie nor a hater, but let’s be honest she is vocally weak among her peers. If you are a pop singer with weak vocals you have to put out HITS and there is no room for error music wise. Examples being: Rihanna and prime Britney Spears. I also think the whole thing with the “showgirl” was a mistake. Me being an idiot, I thought she would refer to things historically like Vegas Rat Pack music or something different and jazzy. Taylor seems unwilling to go experimental.

I suspect the Showgirl thing was just to tee up a long-term residency at the 20k-seat Sphere in Las Vegas, otherwise it makes absolutely no sense. U2, Eagles, Kenny Chesney, Zac Brown Band, et al have done residencies there. U2 grossed over $250 million after 40 shows. Taylor should very easily double that?

Love the costumes. Video may help the song grow in me a bit.

That was fun. Thanks for the link.

It sounds like she ripped off Lana Del Ray with that song. The entire album sounds like a 16 year old girl wrote it. I think Taylor Swift is completely stunted at this point. The "dancing" needs to stop, it's horrendous.

These haters are so unhinged. They obsess with mean girl behavior. Taylor has done a lot of good in the world and she rocks

Criticizing Taylor's work is always fair game. That's how art work. It doesn't matter what else you do -- many artists have done a ton of charitable work or are just very exceptionally good people, and they will still get critical reviews (by professional critics and by regular people) because that's the gig. You have the privilege of sharing your artistic work with the world, and letting them receive it as they will.

The random criticism of her relationships or just hating on the way she looks or just vague attacks on her being washed up or middle aged or fake or whatever... some of that is mean girl behavior but it's easy to ignore.

But criticizing her music or her videos or her dancing or the concept of her album? That's always fair game.

Disappointed in this album. She comes off as an insecure mean girl and unconscious racist.

She is petty and the attack on Charli is uncalled for. Actually Romantic would’ve been better if targeted at the haters who obsess about her online.

Agree. Total ripoff of Summertime Sadness. Actually Romantic is a straight up rip off of the Pixies. Wood stolen from the Jackson five. It’s so blatant, only powerful Taylor could get away with doing this. So hypocritical after what she put Olivia Rodrigo through. I have always liked Taylor and love TTPD which is a masterpiece. I fear that without Matty as a muse, her music is going to be uninspired tacky rip offs like this whole album. Travis is just using her for money and fame and will one day stray. But the truth is Taylor’s not that into him either. Shes only into him because he’s done a great job convincing her that he’s into her and she was shamed by the Matty debacle. Come save Taylor’s music Matty! We need a good collab!!

So true. When you are arguably the most powerful woman in the world and a billionaire, Taylor picking on a lesser pop star comes across petty and evil. Punching down is not a good look for a girl who claims she’s a girls girl. I’ve lost a lot of respect for her with this album.

Complaining about being called boring Barbie on a boring song is a really interesting choice.

The music is by Max Martin and Shellback but I would expect Taylor to hear similarities to other songs. They’ll end up crediting more artists

At least she doesn’t need to worry about carrying narcan for Kelce

She should carry mace for when his CTE rage kicks in. The idiot has scrambled his brain for 20 plus years playing football & it ain’t like he had much native brain power to begin with.

She always has her bodyguards around when she’s with him!

Even a short ‘You up’ text at 2am might suffice 🤣
