What exactly is the democratic party going to stand for in 2026 and 2028?

Americans have short memories. But don't you worry.

A few well crafted ads on the ridiculous crime stats, immigration stats, DEI, wars overseas and foreign policy spinning out of control (paying Iran big cash, Ukraine, Israel), taking the Houthi off of the terrorism watch list, putting Tulsi Gabbard on the terrorism watch list, the lawfare games, the administration disaster policy in East Palestine spill/Lahaina fire/Los Angeles fire/FEMA selectively ignoring anyone identifying as a Trump supporter in North Carolina, and all the other very unAmerican things the Biden White House autopen did.

I think you’ll find that Americans are sick of being outraged. Trump is losing on immigration and just about everything else. People needed a reminder that treating trans people with kindness wasn’t actually the worst thing in the world. Watching your business go under, your baby die of measles, your belly go hungry, and your best friend’s spouse get mistakenly deported, all while your taxes go up - that could actually be worse.

Only 5 months in and this administration is an utter disaster.

Trump voter here and I’m thrilled. Stock market at record highs. Iran nuclear capabilities destroyed. Peace in Rwanda and Congo. Lawfare over. DEI on the run. An enforced border. Etc.

Because Trump said so?

Why does the left always think they are smarter than everyone else? Your condescension hasn’t exactly gotten your party election results or approval ratings outside the 20s. Maybe try debating on the merits instead of insults? All of us can see the current stock market levels on a tv news article. Here is CBS. Good enough for you? Or do you need MSNBC to spell it out for you?

The S&P 500 reached a new record high, with investors buoyed by signs of easing global trade tensions.

The broad-based index rose 32 points, or 0.5%, to close at 6,173, surpassing its previous all-time high in February of 6,144. The S&P 500 has jumped roughly 24% since dropping sharply in the days after President Trump announced his "Liberation Day" tariffs on April 2.

The Nasdaq Composite gained 105 points, or 0.5%, and set its own all-time high. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 1% to 43,819, still below its previous high of 45,014 on Dec. 4, 2024.

And yet my s&p indexed portfolio is still down from last year.

Maybe that’s your own portfolio choices. The data speaks for itself.

Republicans' chances of holding off Democrats in the 2026 midterms appear to have surged, according to a new poll. Meanwhile, several recent surveys still indicate possible trouble for the GOP, and a Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee spokesperson predicted a "favorable political environment" for 2026 to Newsweek.

One new poll? For an election in over 16 months…

I hope nobody takes this tidbit too seriously.

People have been discussing Trump’s approval all over this thread. Yes that involves poll data.

You’d think that standing for freedom and America and decency would be enough. We stand against maga fascism and racism and domestic terrorism.

Is that enough?

Based on Dems reaction to the SCOTUS decision in Montgomery County, MD I'd say they are still standing for issues that will make them lose again.

Well, people need to account for the roughly 15 percent decline in the value of the US dollar this year when looking at their portfolio. But agree that the market overall is pretty resilient. I think that's largely due to the TACO trade settling in as the norm. Trump's words have no meaning anymore. The more ridiculous Trump is, the more bullish the market.

Alas... no. At this moment in time, Republicans are doing pretty well. Markets are up. Economy is ok. Illegal migrant crossing have dropped by more than 95 percent. Europe is finally increasing their defense spending. The Iran strikes were fairly useful and demonstrated what the US can do. China is pretty quiet. DEI is dead. The courts are generally ruling in favor of Republicans. I mean, all things considered, things are going pretty well for Republicans.

And in the meantime, Democrats are completely lost. Schumer and Jeffries are inadequate leaders. Progressives continue to gift Republicans with various issues - from unpopular trans legislation to putting up privileged far left candidates like Mamdani in NYC that don't really resonate with working class Americans - perpetuating all the stereotypes of Democrats being the party of out of touch wealthy Manhattanites. Trump's unpopularity will continue to decline, but he's not on the ballot anymore. And Democrats have offered nothing to step into the vacuum. The incompetence of the Democratic Party is breathtaking. Republicans are much better prepared for the post-Trump era.

This reads like a lot of excuses to backtrack on the silly claims that 1) the administration is “an utter disaster” and 2) I only think otherwise because “Trump told me so.” At least now you can admit the economy is doing well in his presidency so that’s progress.

+1 and well said. People on this thread can deny reality, but it still exists. Voters will look at the next 13 months and judge. Democrats better do something.
