Based on what?!? Are you joking?

To the poster who claimed Basis has the best results in Virginia, I hate to break it to you, but Potomac has got you hands down. Your 2023 students got admitted to some good schools, but the over the top Basis is better than all the rest claims that pop up on this board all the time are just ridiculous and your link proves it.

Did you even look at and compare the results? Basis outperformed Potomac, hands down

By what measure did Basis outperform hands down? Potomac's matriculation results over the last 4 years are 48 total across all the Ivys, 1 MIT, 8 Stanford, 7 U of Chicago and a host of other top schools. (https://www.potomacschool.org/academics/college-counseling/matriculation). And of the 38 who've chosen to share their ED results on insta this year 9 are going to Ivys and the others are very competitive schools.

The Basis list is very strong too (https://mclean.basisindependent.com/about/achievements/college-admissions/), but on last year's inta that you shared just 2 of 21 are going to Ivies, no Stanford, MIT or U Chicago in that group.

It's the constant need to say you are better than everyone else that is just absurd and feels like you are trying to compensate for something. Be confident that you have a good program at Basis rather than feeling the need to claim you are the best all the time.

These are great results for Potomac. Almost on par with Montgomery County public schools like Churchill and Whitman, which is great for an up and comer like Potomac.

Yes and Potomac and the MoCo high schools are about the same size

Always chuckle at this one. As if folks are comparing the gross amount of college admits across entire graduating classes. We’re talking about 100 kids or so at each school who compete for spots at top schools. Potomac lags behind the top MoCo public schools in this regard.

You're saying that Potomac also has 100 kids competing for spots at top schools?

Pick a new number. 50? 30? Still holds true

LOL, that sounds very scientific on your part. Just pick a number out of the air...one that serves your narrative.

How would it still hold true if the number is 30?

The 30 best college admits at those publics would be better than the 30 at Potomac. That’s how I guess
Anonymous
Well sure. Maybe. Because 30 is top quarter at Potomac but top what at the MCPS schools - top 5%??

But the denominator of students who are competing for spots at top schools aren't the same.

Why does that matter
Anonymous
Then stop being so defensive when people say that MCPS schools should have three times as many admits to top colleges.
Anonymous
I find it unbelievable that educated people don't understand simple math.

But aren’t all the students at Potomac getting into top schools?
