In most big cities violent crime is declining. In Washington the opposite is true

Confused, did Eric Goulet move to Ward 6? I thought he lived in Palisades? What does recalling Allen have to do with him?

Navy Yard restaurant hit by gunfire this afternoon, in broad daylight.

Another closure in Navy Yard, in part, due to crime. There are more and more vacancies. Shame, area had/has so much promise.

“Faced an unfortunate incident”???

Drive-by shooting is an “unfortunate incident”?

How about domestic terrorism? Could we open a Guantanamo on Rosevelt Island?

We have a Guantanamo at Guantanamo, and it's almost empty and run by the federal government. It would be a good place for these criminal thugs to break rocks for 5 years.

In most big cities violent crime is declining. In Washington the opposite is true," everywhere else crime is dropping yet in DC it's increasing rapidly. 40% this year alone. Explores the possible reasons. Any one else read it and want to discuss? I think that discussing it is better than pretending that it's not happening at this point....

Big city crime data is literally fake. Victims don’t call police, police don’t show when 911 is called, police treat victims like garbage so they don’t call angain, and reports are never written en masse. Plus data juking.

The stats that aren't fake: murder and car theft. DC's are through the roof.

If there’s resistance to jailing more juvenile criminals why can’t they be put on hard labor work crews for a year or so? Look at the trash dumps and graffiti in Rock Creek Park and elsewhere in DC, the garbage in the Anackstia River, etc. There’s plenty to be done and a way for juvenile criminals to pay back a little bit. If they don’t show up every day to work or don’t comply with the rules then a cell awaits.

So crime is even more prevalent than reported?

Yes, PP.

The spillover effect throughout the region is tremendous too.

Racine, Schwab and Allen have taught a generation that there will be few to no consequences for criminal behavior.

But most reported crimes are up significantly year over year in Washington DC. Some areas have seen a doubling.

Not to mention all the activities that would have been crimes five years ago but are decriminalized today.

What has been decriminalized specifically in the past five years?

I consider this domestic terrorism as well. If Isis were running around DC it would not be tolerated for one day. - military spouse
