Catastrophize much? The recall is a step toward change, embrace it. Tommy Wells may be a "nut" now but he was not when he was on the Council. Cheh was not a "nut" until she said way too much about crime and linked it to vouchers outside the Days Inn, ahead of her time there, even Frumin commonly acknowledges that now. We may not even have a Council in the foreseeable future. Drop the Eyore act, PP. |

Before the Control Board, were lots of companies leaving DC? In the 90s there was little remote work and the feds were much more firmly ensconced in DC. Now it is literally hollowing out in multiple senses of the word.
Can DC really afford a sizeable underclass that is poorly educated with few to no legal work skills? It seems to be past time to address truancy and to invest resources in catching kids up with basic math and literacy and perhaps expanding resources to learn trades. Breed in SF is talking about drug testing before benefits, like making involuntary commitment easier, another direction of CA that DC would be WISE to emulate. |
| Sales tax is also going to have to go up. As incoming revenue plummets a lot of the BS spending is going to have to stop along with a lot of the unaccountable "wrap around services" that are not delivered or that are ineffective. So much grift and graft in DC, the gravy train has gone off the rails. |
You learn a lot of work skills...by working. Kids across America have flipped burgers to start out, DC kids can too. Require folks that get benefits to get entry level jobs. Flip burgers, answer phones, DC could employ people beautifying the city and placing bair for rats. Provide daycare. End of story. |

-1 This city is NOT going to be better under Trump. Everyone will pull to the left to distance themselves from his outright insanity. Do we not remember how much of a shitshow this city was under Trump? Leaving aside the J6 riots, he was non-stop inflaming racial tensions, leading to chaos and borderline riots after George Floyd. Remember how Biden threatened to veto the Charles Allen's stupid crime bill when Allen was too tone deaf to get a sensible crime bill passed? Biden is a centrist. We need an adult in office. |
No one wants Trump. We are saying Trump will federalize if he wins. Allen and the situation in DC are hurting Biden’s election chances (yes, really) because he looks weak and like he can’t get the city to be safe. So, if we do nothing, Biden might not get elected. Either way = federalization If you want certainty, the only move is to pull a Clinton and institute a Control Board now. That way Dems control the appointments and rules. The local government is back in 4 budget cycles. That’s the right move. |
| Unlikely to happen, PP, despite your repeated posts. Perhaps you should lobby the WH instead of us? |
| I’m not the only one saying this. People at the WH are saying this. Ask me how I know. I won’t go lobbying because I have a life, but the recall gets my vote |

Crime is down bigly in NYC year over year.
But most reported crimes are up significantly year over year in Washington DC. Some areas have seen a doubling. |

Not to mention all the activities that would have been crimes five years ago but are decriminalized today. |
