If a business decides to shun half the people in this country, that is on them. It won't end well.
Look at what happened to Bud Light when they essentially mocked their customer base.

Yeh. The Bud Light reference is misplaced. It was about an effort to expand its customer base. Instead, its historical customer base got all upset that their favorite beer was trying to expand their overall customer base.

Yeah... that is what their goal was, reportedly.
But, when the VP of marketing comes out and essentially insults its customer base, then hires a divisive figure like Dylan Mulvaney to promote the product, there is naturally going to be an uproar. It is hard to believe they did not see that coming.

The VP of marketing said she wanted to make the brand appeal to men and women. In the end, she succeeded in making certain it appeals to neither.

So, it's fine to sell beer to Joe and Bob but if you sell beer to Dylan, then Joe and Bob are "insulted" by that. Ummm what? What in the sam hell does Dylan buying beer have to do with Joe and Bob? If that isn't some deranged snowflake behavior by Joe and Bob then I don't know what is.

Dylan can buy all the beer she wants. But, they made a beer can with her face and had her promote it. If Joe and Bob don't want to buy the beer that Dylan is pushing, that's on them. Usually commercials are designed for the target audience. I guess Dylan's supporters don't like beer.

Wow Joe and Bob are a$$holes, aren’t they? And Dylan is not herself divisive. It’s people like Joe and Bob who are so full of hate that they can’t stand someone’s mere existence for no good reason (she’s never even met Joe and Bob so why the hateful reaction?) who are the divisive ones. Reminds me of how racist white southerners used to get enraged if a black actor was shown as too human or familiar with white actors in a film.

Joe and Bob know that there are a myriad of other beer companies who market their products without insulting their customer base.
It has nothing to do with "hate" on the part of Joe and Bob. They couldn't care less about the choices Dylan has made in life.
But they do know, that given the choices they have, they would much rather support a company that appreciates their customers.

I don't even think the employees invoked "religious principle" as a reason. They just didn't like her politics.

Fellow Catholic here. They hate us. They write here on this forum over and over that they hate us. I'm not saying that you should hate them, but recognize that you're voting for people who literally hate everything you stand for, and are seeking to undermine a Catholic way of life in nearly all aspects.

No one is undermining the MAGA Catholic way of life. You are free to attend Mass, free not to marry someone of your own sex, free not to have an abortion, free to hold your religious views. No one is suggesting that those activities should be illegal, etc. But you are not free to demand that others must follow your views on these issues. You are not free to demand that others refrain from criticizing the MAGA Bishops.

They are undermining core Catholic tenets - like mercy and compassion. Taking care of the sick, the poor, refugees, the elderly, the outcasts, the vulnerable. Loving your neighbor and treating others as you would have them treat you. Those are CORE teachings of Christ, those are some of the most important teachings that society needs - but they are the very things that conservatives in the Church turned their backs on.

Can you even still call it Christianity when it's thrown the core teachings of Christ away?

DP... no you aren't familiar with most of the Biblical verses because the feed your enemy quote used by the PP above in reference to the penis cake comes from multiple places in the Bible:

Proverbs 12:21-22 and again in Romans 12:20.

WTF are you talking about?. I was quoting the post that said "So the Bible says basically for your bakery to make the penis cake and not impede that customers journey to Hell." So where is that in the Bible?

Wow, are you slow or what? Romans 12:20 clearly says to GO AHEAD AND SERVE them even if they are your enemies. Serve them, whether that's a website, a cake, or whatever else, and that it doesn't matter if you disagree with their beliefs, because if their beliefs are sinful that's on them and not you.

You really fail at being a Christian.

you must be shittin' me? It's about people who are hungry: “If your enemy is hungry, feed him;
if he is thirsty, give him something to drink.
In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head.”

Got nothing to do with requests for designer penis cake

Oh puh frickin leeeeeze. There are thousands of extremely hateful videos directed at Bud Light and directed at Dylan all over the internet.

DO NOT give us this COMPLETE BUNK of "oh it has nothing to do with hate" and "they couldn't care less about Dylan." DO. NOT. That is a flat-out LIE on your part.

Yes. Also, love thy neighbor. The people protesting helping others are not real Christians, they just think they are.

Ah ha. So we have religious people whose views fall all along the spectrum from far left to far right, but you're saying there is an orthodoxy of viewpoint - that those "protesting helping others" are heretics.? I think all you have to do to be a "real" Christian is believe in Jesus, at least that's what Paul said. Or is this more appropropriate for the religion forum?

Really now? So all I have to do is say I believe in Jesus, but I believe he's a purple alien space monkey and I'm still good, according to your perception of Pauline doctrine? 😆😆😆

Brilliant! Because the belligerent believers jump all over you on the religious forum, and even report these type posts, the discussion has moved over here where people are more tolerant. Bravo!

Huh? I don't post on the Religion forum. But again, it was your own logic, that I'm good with Paul and the Catholic church if I believe Jesus is a purple space alien, because I at least believe in him. Nothing to jump on me about, I'm just demonstrating the faulty logic of your own opinions.

No answer, huh? That's cool. I don't think the Romans verse about feeding the hungry has anything whatsoever with agreeing to bake a designer penis cake, but then I'm no Biblical scholar.

NP. I can’t think of anything more irrelevant to a 2023 business practice’s legality than a bunch of stories written centuries ago. GMAFB with this crap. Who the hell cares what a Roman verse says.

Churches should lose their tax exempt status anyway. The minute you enter politics, and try to influence federal law, you shouldn't be given tax exempt status. Other tax exempt organizations aren't allowed to lobby. Why are churches allowed to?
