JFK Jr / Carolyn reference? |
BS. The wreck has been down there for over a century. What “preservation and identification” needs to be done now? |
Paywall. What was the name of the ship? |
Or that fellow who crashed into an electrical tower last Thanksgiving and only escaped due to sheer dumb luck. |
Omg!! Lol |
It's disintegrating. Soon it will be gone, by 2030 according to one estimate. https://www.businessinsider.com/titanic-shipwreck-disappearing-dive-reveals-2019-9 |
Maybe people will stop going there to gawk then. |
Uh, have you ever visited a museum? Damn those preserved artifacts! Let them rot! |
Yes. He killed his wife because he was not trained to fly on instruments only and used poor judgment by leaving late knowing his limitations. Two things a professional pilot wouldn’t do. Planes aren’t toys but some rich people think they are. |
Zero reason to send a manned sub other than ego. |
Are those museums 2.4 miles under the surface of the ocean? |
|
I think people are focusing on the rich because of the massive resources being allocated to save them when not rich people die everyday in tragic circumstances where no one cares. I think it has more to do with the extreme nature—similar efforts were made for the Chilean miners and the Thai soccer team, both of which were poor. But it’s a weird human trait that we will hyper focus on people in these disasters but the day to day tragedies, we can’t wrap our head around.
I do like the PP that coined the rich people who seek out dangerous unique experiences as The Jurassic Park experience. Ironically, some of the dead on the Titanic also had the syndrome — they wanted to brag that they’d been on the biggest, fanciest ship. I think it’s one reason why people are fascinated by the titanic rather than the other ship that have sunk (like the Itata). Rich people in pretty clothes with famous works of art sank — it makes for a very nice looking movie. |
So what? Why do people need to go down to the bottom of the ocean in a submarine? It can be documented with machines ie the ones seen in the titanic movie. Additionally, it’s a shipwreck from 110 years ago. Why does it need be revisited at this point? |
This. And on top of it on a completely sealed sub. Beyond crazy. |
she said she would never fly in a private plane which her spouse had to learn to fly in/ Who was putting her down? |
