Free fall. It's not even worth having a rational discussion with you |
Only your claims of racism take effort. Got it! |
Are there parents who really still believe their whiteness and money didn’t directly influence their ability to impact this school this quickly? I mean beleive what you gotta believe about WHY you felt PJ had to go but the fact that he was removed and HOW he was removed is directly related to ya’lls clout in this City. To believe otherwise is naive and absurd and as others have tried to point out—reeks of your privilege and cluelessness. Do you believe if you were an upset group of Ward 8 parents any of this would have happened. Your collective refusal to acknowledge this makes it difficult to take any of you seriously.
It doesn’t matter that everyone at DCPS is black. You all represent the richest (and whitest) Ward in the City. DCPS knows who they CAN and CANT ignore. I don’t excuse any of it…but for Christ sake stop trying to deny it. |
If 500 ward 8 parents signed a petition after their leadership had spent all year making a paper trail and exhausting all other avenues, yes, it should happen just like this. If it wouldn't happen despite that level of organizing, there's the true racism. |
It was impressive that the parents were able to get organized in the way they did. That reflects the resources in terms of time, knowledge, organization, etc that parents were able to being to the problems. I haven't seen any posts disputing that. What I have seen is posters rejecting the idea that no change should happen because it's not also happening somewhere else that maybe it should be. That seems to be what you are saying: How dare those Hardy parents speak up when others don't/don't get heard?! That's a silly conclusion. What posters have said is that *all* parents should be heard and, if some are getting dismissed, them let's address that. But deciding that no problems should be fixed so all parents are equally unheard is a bizarre path to fairness. |
Well played! I mean, no one could possibly see that you ignored all substantive evidence of the Principal's failure and that you didn't address having invented W2 parents claiming to be victims. Just doubled down on your persecution and fake racism claim. Every time someone like you types or opens your mouth you hurt your cause a little more. |
The problem with your post and logic is that it assumes the point of those posters is to solve issues in their communities and improve schools there. It isn't. The point of the exercise is performative nonsense. The point is to find any and all made up slights and call them out as evidence of racism and privilege. There are lots of people in poor communities trying to solve problems. Unfortunately they aren't the loudest voices or the ones on TV. The efforts of people trying to actually improve their communities are hurt every time one of these performance artists pops off at the mouth. |
This is exactly right. I don’t think anywhere doubts that there is such a thing as institutionalized racism, but accusing Hardy parents of racism because they took issue with PJ’s performance is beyond the pale. If there are examples of cases where parents at EOTR schools where similarly outraged at the performance of their school administrators and were ignored, it would be great to hear about them. It would greatly benefit DCPS for other PTOs and parents to learn how to organize like they did at Hardy. I don’t doubt though that there are those here who want nothing less for that to happen, hence their faux outrage at how effective it was. |
I’m not a Hardy parent but good for these parents for getting organized and leading an effective outcome.
This puts DCPS on notice that they better do right by Hardy. Maybe someone could encourage the Hardy parent organizers to help other parent communities at other schools to organize as well to pressure DCPS to improve learning conditions. DCPS needs accountability as they get away with way too much crap |
I wish living in the “richest and whitest” ward could fix this voucher problem up and down Connecticut Ave. |
I heard from reliable sources that there is more information that both teachers AND parents are not privy to that played into this decision. I personally do not know what this info is, but it’s clear there is more to this story than just a petition. I wouldn’t jump on here and make claims one way or another without being able to say you 100% know all the facts. The truth is, no one in this board knows 100% of it. |
All the parents had to do was hold one zoom meeting and write one letter that got signed by parents. This was what the IS told the parents to do. Why the IS couldn’t run his concerns up the chain himself is unfortunate. It required the parents who hold a lot of power to speak up. |
That’s an affordable housing issue and a totally different discussion related to landlords wanting more $$ provided by vouchers. You’ve been all over WaPo and at every DCHA hearing with your complaints. Get your complaints of this thread. |
The zoom meeting was the second to last event in a sequence of events that took months, and hundreds of hours of effort by multiple parent groups. The petition was the last. And 400+ parents would not have just signed the thing had they not been provided the information to their satisfaction that something this disruptive was necessary and nothing else remained to be tried. |
I bet the principal is relieved to be done with Hardy. Let’s hope the new person can 1. Making science teachers materialize out of thin air,2 take everyone’s cell phone, and 3 stop any kid anywhere from fighting.
Gooood luuuuuck with all that |
